TTC after Cerezette

Hi ladies
I finished my pack of Cerezette yesterday. Has anyone else done the same either in the past or recently? I have no idea what to expect as I have been on birth control pills since 17 and Cerezette for the past 4 years or so
Thanks xxx

Hey Holly,

Yeah me! I came off in Jan but have only been seriously been ttc for the last few cycles.

What I would say is, don't believe a lot of the horror stories out there. I was at my docs yesterday and asked her about cerezette and she's had many many women who've become preggo very quickly. Whatever you do, do NOT get caught up in the stories on line, they frightened me half to death.

From memory I think I had my withdrawal bleed within 21 days and from there my periods have gone between 33-41 days. I honestly can't remember what they were like before because like you I've been on birth control from before I cared about things like that Grin

xxx

Yes, I'm TTCing after recently coming off Cerazette too.
I had my first bleed after 4-5 weeks, and then the next one 27 days later.
(However, when I came off the combined pill some years ago, I think it was 10 weeks before my first bleed.)

Medical advice is that while it's perfectly safe to TTC straight after stopping Cerazette, it's better to wait until your first period as this helps the MW date your pregnancy, and hence care for you better.

Awwww thanks ladies. How are you finding everything? X

Agree with op, do NOT Google! You will read some terrible tales. I know everyone is different but thought I'd share my positive story.... I came off cerazette last September, had a withdrawal bleed a month later, AF about a month after that. I'm now 39+3 and ready to drop! I didn't have AF in December but think I must have conceived around xmas/new year so it took me about 3 months. Dating my pregnancy was a little tricky due to lack of period prior so I had to rely on my scan. I'm 31 and had been on that pill for about 2 years but had taken microgynon on and off since age 16, I was concerned the pill would have messed my body up but I didn't encounter any problems. Obviously everyone is different so I'd say always see the doc if you have any concerns. Good luck ladies Grin

I was on mycrogynon too but had to come off due to migraines with aura. I know This sounds stupid but what do you mean by AF? X

AF is slang for your period Blush There should be a link at the top of this page called acronyms, very helpful when trying to get to grips with all the shortened words, slang etc

pinkie1982 · 10/09/2014 18:53

I came off of microgynon on Saturday.
Good luck!

I just think this is all so daunting x I'm scared about all the side effects

Please don't be scared!
I hope it will encourage you to hear that I've just got my BFP the first month of TTCing, a couple of months after stopping Cerazette.

Although there are a lot of people out there struggling to conceive after Cerazette and blaming it on the pills (I know I would too!), actually the sad truth is that even without having been on birth control, 1 in 4 couples TTC for six months or longer without success. Apparently the rates aren't noticeably worse if you've been on the pill beforehand. But don't get too downhearted: 95% of couples do get pregnant within a couple of years, while 30% get lucky the first month like me!

I stopped taking Cerazette in November 2013 but we didn't TTC for five months as I wanted my periods to settle down. I got pregnant after four months of TTC. Don't worry - I don't think it made any difference at all. And good luck!

I came off the pill early December and have had no bleeds yet Sad I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that I'm one of the lucky ones that have fallen pregnant straight away Grin fingers crossed for you!

Francescal88 · 18/01/2015 22:01

I came off cerazette in April 2013, had a period four weeks later and then conceived two weeks after that! Although I had only been on it for 6 months.

HollyJenni · 18/01/2015 22:02

I'm back to normal period wise. I use the ovia app which helps, due to take a test in 3 days

Conceived 3 months after being on cerazette 10 years. If you search on here this topic comes up loads and loads of people become pregnant pretty quickly from what I've seen.
