Started to mentally tot up what I've wasted spent on ttc over the past 9 months and I'm horrified! I remember it, month 1, buying some cheap boots own fertility support tablets and an hpt "won't go for multipack, won't need them" all naive and positive. Fast forward to today and the sum is one I'm not going to be sharing with to DP!

So feel free to join me and engage in a bit of masochism...

At least £640 comprising:

Vitamins - £65
Clear blue opks - £100
Books - £10
HPTs - circa £60
Fertility MOT - £250
Acupuncture - £155

.....FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKKKKKK!

You can get hpts for £2 from local pharmacies.

Same with ovulation tests.

Buy cheap vitamins- just avoid those with vit a.

I dread to think what I spent, it took us 16 months and I had irregular cycles plus a POAS addiction. Thankfully I eventually discovered ICs or we would've been remortgaging Wink
Then there were the books, apps, thermometers, conception lube Blush, ferning kit, OPKs etc
All worth it though!

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 06/09/2014 22:09

Oh am I strange. Nothing really. Apart from pregnancy tests for about £1.
I don't temp or anything. I just google my fertile window and try to fit more shagging in during that window.
We're very serious this month though. We've taken Mon-Fri I(my fertile period)off work to going to dtd everyday to hopefully create our ickle bubba.
I've warned D.P to rest well over the weekend as he'll get no peace next week.
He's been summoned to turn up at mine at 9am Monday morning.

Icy my TTC spend is very close to yours, also over the last 9 months (would have a baby by now if we'd conceived straight away)

vitamins/supplements - about £20.00
2 books- about £15.00
CBFM and test sticks- about £140.00 (had high hopes for this!!)
OPKs- probably about £20.00
HPTs- probably about £30.00 (have managed to wait for AF some months)
Accupuncture- about £225.00
Chinese herbs- about £40.00
Conceive plus- (onto our second tube) about £15.00
DH semen analysis- £100.00
Ooh, had a tarot done too - mainly because I was feeling so disillusioned about TTC- £50.00
Soft cups- which I've not worked up the courage to use yet - think they were about £6.00 including delivery.
So that's about £661.00

Currently a day late but had a BFN yesterday and today. Have a fertility MOT booked for next week which will add another £200.00 to the tab! Yikes- could have had a holiday for that.

Acupuncture is sheer voodoo for fertility. They can see you coming as you are so desperate to do anything that will help. Ditto Chinese herbs and tarot.

Your money, your choice.

Aprilray · 07/09/2014 14:07

I have read about a lot of acupuncture success stories and actually find it really relaxing and enjoyable. The acupuncture along with the herbs have transformed my AF from being heavy and incredibly painful to being lighter and pretty much pain free - that in itself is worth it.
The tarot, yeah, probably a waste of money but was fun and gave me a boost.

Too much (diui)

icy121 · 07/09/2014 18:01

Haha april I forgot about the lube & softcups! Used both this weds AM (solid smiley) then had to drive up to a meeting in Brum (from SW London) bunged up with softcup and loo roll in case of seepage. Low point)

I call acupuncture my weekly visit to the witch doctor for voodoo. I am also convinced she takes the notes, does the needles and then goes outside to laugh for 20 mins before coming back all serene. However - desperate times, desperate measures! When I first started I calculated I'd be due for my best friend's wedding (3 oct). As it is I'm just hoping and praying I'll at least be difffed.

About a grand on seeing a private miscarriage specialist for dd.
About to spend about 10k on ivf for hopefully dc2. Best money I have ever spent I reckon!!

Aprilray · 08/09/2014 09:28

The things we do hey Icy...
I only go to my acupuncturist once or twice a month. I always think what a great job, take a few notes, stick some needles in and then please yourself for half an hour!
I'm doing a Clear Blue trial next cycle so at least I get some free OPKs. I could well have had a baby now if we'd been successful on our first try!! Crazy. We are just hoping that my fertility results are ok and we are successful by Xmas - FX

Aprilray · 08/09/2014 09:29

Farfallarocks I hope your ivf goes well. DH and I have said we will spend whatever it takes to have a DC.

farfallarocks · 08/09/2014 12:49

Thanks, good luck to you too!
