Hi I'm new to this.
Has anyone been on the depo shot? My last injection was due around June which I never went for and came on the 23rd July for 9 days now I haven't came on since. I've had cramping last week but nothing, I was convinced I was pregnant due to the cramping feeling different to the normal ones, lower back ache and sore boobs. I have tested with Clear Blue but sadly not pregnant. Has anyone else had problems with the shot as well or should I go the doctors?

It can take a year or more for fertility to return after the depo. Hop you are lucky and it returns sooner than that.

Hi,

I had the depo shot back to back for a year-ish in 2008/9, I then had about a year without any hormonal contraception during which I didn't get my period back. I went on the pill when I started a new relationship which did bring it back and was able to get pregnant this year very quickly.

So it didn't cause any long term damage, but it certainly did mess with my fertility in a way which I felt hadn't been made clear to me at the time (I asked the nurse in depth about those kind of side effects, I will always do my own research in future now), and when I searched on the internet I found that there were plenty of other women who had had to wait a period of years to get their cycles back, too.

AFAIK it is fairly normal for things to take a while after depo, but maybe if you spoke to your doctor s/he might be able to clarify things for you and suggest something which might help.

Good luck!

Starfish I was on the depo for 10 years.

It took 8 months for my period to return and 15 months for my boody to start ovulating.

As another poster has said it can take at least a year for fertility to return after the depo.

The first thing you need to find out is if your ovulating, have you tried opks.

Also clear blue pregnancy tests are the least sensitive you would be better off using a frer

Good luck

I was on the Depo injection from 2005 until 2013. I was due a jab on October 2013, but decided to stop it completely. I had my first period in 8 years in February 2014, and I have had periods every month since then. Albeit they vary in duration and dates. I'm definitely ovulating, and we are trying to conceive our first child at the moment. I stopped taking Depo when I did because I panicked about my body taking forever to get back to normal.
