Question about temping/charting.

This is my first cycle for charting.

On Cd 14 I had an obvious temp rise, which coincided with CM. Since then my temps have gone down to what they were before the rise. No more CM.
I'm a bit confused. I thought my temps should remain higher, above the coverline.

Can anyone advise me on this, PLEASE.

They definitely should remain higher. Also, the CM appears on the day(s) of peak fertility and that does not include the day of the temperature rise as you have already ovulated by then.

Have you been taking your temperatures at the same time every day? Variations in waking time and also in the amount of sleep you have had can have an affect on the temperature.
Alcohol is another factor. I have found that alcohol (more than a couple of glasses of wine) has a big affect on my temperature, knocking it up significantly. Or maybe you had a cold?

If you have not had a clear and sustained rise then i don't think you've ovulated yet.

Thank you.
Yes I did and still have a cold.
Maybe next month I'll have a better idea.

Thanks for your help.

Hello 3catstoo (I have 3 cats too by the way! ) This happened to me last month with my temps and CM, I think my body started to OV and then decided to wait a few days as the same pattern came back a few days later (and then the temps were normal - above coverline until AF) I hope this helps, charting is confusing at first and what is weird is that even though this is my 3rd cycle charting, none of the charts look anything like each other!! each month is a new experience!

I have been charting my cycles for 14 months now. Now I am ready to get pregnant, and the last two months my temperature doesn't rise after ovulation.
Last month, it was 3 days later, and this month, it's been 5 days, and my temp is still low. Anyone have any advice?

sunshine, are you sure you have ovulated. Maybe it's being delayed.

sunshine

If you have been ttc for 14 months without success then I would seek medical advice from your doctor.

What are your cycles like - if these are irregular in nature then I would suspect hormonal imbalances and these affect ovulation. It can be treated but you should have a blood test done asap to see what your hormone levels are like.

For your info LH (luteinising hormone) and FSH (follicle stimulation hormone) should be tested and the levels compared against one another. It is only when a comparison is made that any hormonal imbalance can be seen (they may look okay if looked at separately).
