Just a moan really. Not even sure what advice to ask for so just getting it out for my own sake. Long to avoid drip feeding. Thank you for reading if you do.

TTC#2, DD1 15mths, still BF, AF came back in March.

Always had irregular cycles, took 3yrs to conceive DD1. Cycles very erratic now as well, ranging 34-49 days. Currently am on CD49 with no sign of AF so am really low and feeling sorry for myself. Had a tiny bit of spotting and some cramps weekend before last and thought AF, felt really miserable about it and didn't DTD (DH only home on weekends as works away). Have had heavy feeling and intermittent cramping this last week, allowed self to hope maybe....just maybe...but just BFNs.

Now wondering whether that was ovulation and kicking self for not having DTD in case. Still have occasional cramp, not sure what's happening. Really hope not symptom of deeper issue.

If anyone has a crystal ball I could borrow, I'd be most grateful.

Long term consistently irregular cycles are very suggestive of there being an underlying hormonal imbalance. You need a diagnosis first and foremost but PCOS or thyroid problems are often to blame in that respect. Both can affect ovulation to its detriment and it may well be that you are not ovulating regularly. If it also took three years to conceive your first child it is likely that there is an underlying issue presenting conception. That issue present back then is still there now.

I would seek medical advice asap to see if you can have blood tests done; as your periods are so irregular anyway they could do the tests according to calendar days.

Spotting between periods as well should always be investigated to ascertain the cause; its often not serious but it should be checked out all the same.

Thanks Attila - I remember going through all this when trying to conceive the first time. Will dig up old results and see if I can get GP to help.

Wondering whether bulk buy OPK strips may help identify whether ovulation is actually happening.
