TTC whilst reducing Sertraline

This is my first post on this site and so forgive me if I get the lingo wrong! I have been on sertraline for 2 years and am now weaning myself off it.
In the last month I have reduced the dose from 200mg to 100mg and whilst it has not been easy I am happy that I should be continuing to reduce the dose.

My husband and I are also trying for our first baby which is very exciting. However I have a fear about getting pregnant whilst reducing the dose. Mentally I am fine, but can sertraline interfere with the a baby's development?

I am 34 and so would rather not wait to start a family, but at the same time I would not want to put a child at risk.

I would love to hear any advice or from anyone who has been through something similar.

You really do need to ask your doctor about this one I think?

Hi, am on sertraline though I wasn't when I was pregnant. The guidance leaflet is not too keen I see. I would say that you will not know in advance how you react psychologically to the pregnancy hormones. My body let me know in no uncertain terms that I was pregnant from implantation - incredibly tired, having to get up in the nigh to g to the loo and finding the smell of coffee disgusting! But I was also happier when pregnant than when not pregnant - unusual way round but there we are. And I was sick every morning in both as a routine - but not nauseous.
Anyway I finally got some psychotherapy after a three year wait and halved my dose of Sert and learned Mindfulness. I find this very powerful and there are quite a few recent books on it including on using it in pregnancy.

See www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=Mindfulness+pregnancy&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3AMindfulness+pregnancy

If I were you I would scale down and stop Sert. before conception and for the first trimester when the baby is forming and most vulnerable to chemical damage. After that it is less risky but you may not need it - depending on how you are with the hormones. Don't forget the Folic acid - ideally start it three months before conception. I was 31 and 34 when I had mine.
All the very best to you both!
