Oh and stats are:

Mzzzf, 33, TTC#1, cycle 3, BFP due 6th October.

Ainat266 · 14/09/2014 15:04

Hi All,

I've only just signed up to MumsNet. Hubby and I are on our first month of ttc. I've only just come off the pill (2 weeks ago). After coming off the pill I bled for 11 days which is long for me but only very light. I guess there is a chance that I could ovulate in the next week or so though I'm not right now according to the ovulation test. I'm hoping for a quick BFP, but this will be #1 for us and I'm sure it's going to take a bit of time for me to get back into a normal cycle. I have my fingers crossed that I'll get a BFP before Christmas, but if it takes longer it takes longer. Though now I've actually taken that big important step of coming off the pill and want this all to be real now I want it all to happen straight away!!! Anyone else feel like that?

We've been talking about having a baby for a while now, and a few months ago both of us really started with trying to eat healthier, exercise more, and get a bit fitter. We're both slowly but steadily losing weight (which in all honesty, we both need!) I also take multi-vitamins with added iron. Should I take anything else? Like extra folic acid or primrose oil?

Sorry if I sound like a complete fool... I want to keep this quiet from people I know in 'real life' so that I don't get all the 'are you pregnant yet?' questions all the time - though this also means I can't ask people for advice...

Sorry for such a long post! Can I join the October bus?

(P.S. So many acronyms! How do you remember what they all stand for? Haha)

spinningirl10 · 14/09/2014 16:23

Mzzzf, sorry to see you here, I've had reflexology and i enjoyed it. It seemed to sort out some pre-af symptoms and would probably be good to regulate your cycles. They and find some who specialises in fertility reflexology.

spinningirl10 · 14/09/2014 16:24

Welcome Ainat, yes you should take folic acid. I wouldn't worry about evening primrose oil for now. If you have any questions about the abbreviations just ask Grin

CoffeeOne · 14/09/2014 16:45

Hello all. Booted off the September bus by AF. Currently on CD4.

CoffeeOne, 31, ttc #2, cycle 3.

Testing 15th October.

ChandlersFarang · 14/09/2014 17:39

Mzzzf, sounds bloody annoying! if you're looking for mystical shit with some science behind it, acupuncture could help to balance your hormones and regulate things. I've been taking a cocktail of fertility drugs with mine so can't really isolate what is doing what, but my acupuncture Dr here chats to me about other patients and I hear v positive things.

Hi Ai - welcome to the busses!! Hopefully your ride is as short as you're hoping... Many find their stop comes before they know it! Others feeling slightly like they've been in traffic a bit too long.... GrinGrinGrin

Spotti · 14/09/2014 19:55

Hey everyone >waves

MrsExtraOrdinary · 14/09/2014 20:00

Spotti did I miss a twin announcement? Lol! Grin do you know what your having spotti? Or is it a surprise?

Many moons ago I remember dd tickling me on the inside. It was the oddest sensation. Just a few weeks before she was born. Her nails were really long when she was born and she had very long fingers. Grinshe took about 3 weeks to unfold she was so long and thin. Such an exciting time.

Illiria · 14/09/2014 20:20

Many thanks all, hoping this is the last TTC bus you all need and on to the AN thread for us all. It’s nice to be able to talk to people about this. I have a couple of friends who I could talk to but they have both taken more than two years with one having many loses before having her DC last week and the other starting IVF in the new year so I feel like I would be whining a bit if I complain at such an early stage.

ChandlersFarang - Many thanks

spinningirl10 - I am in California just west of Napa. We were in Edinburgh prior to this so am loving the lack of rain, despite the downsides of drought. Just wish they would consider a hosepipe and sprinkler ban. One good thing about the US is they do 8 week scans as standard at my insurances hospital.

Gennibugs - Thanks, I have been wanting to see Book of Morman, we keep missing it first when it moved from New York then we left before it got to London.

KittyVonCatsington – Thanks for the chart help. I had thought I was icing on cd11 as seemed to have the month before so concentrated on then, plus the initial temp jump the second month seemed to indicate that it was cd11 until the second jump. Am using OPKs now so hopefully will help. DH won’t mind the extra dtd though Grin DH commented that I seemed much happier last month than the month before, so think will stay with the vit B complex in case it is helping. I have to admit we are both scientists so the charting helps with feeling in control a bit more.

Boosk – Awesome that your DH has been discharged. Hoping you get your BFP soon.

Ainat266 – Welcome, I take prenatal vitamins as they don’t have the vitamin A. The US put 800 of folic acid in theirs but I think the NHS is 400.

Boosk · 14/09/2014 21:10

Thank you spinning, MrsE and Iliria, I'm very happy to be back. It's been a crazy year indeed but we're very much back on track Smile

spinningirl10 · 15/09/2014 06:35

Morning Grin it's still dark, don't like it!

Illiria, how lovely to be in California, as you say a big difference in weather from Scotland!

Spotti, it's such a wonderful feeling when baby's moving around.

Coffeeone, sorry af got you, good luck this cycle.

spinningirl10 · 15/09/2014 06:36

Secret, welcome aboard and good luckGrin

gennibugs · 15/09/2014 08:15

Morning all!!!

Hi to the new passengers - lovely to have you on board.

I have my "day 21" blood test today - so pretty nervous here. They always struggle to find a vein to use. can't wait for it to be over Smile

ChandlersFarang · 15/09/2014 08:58

Good luck genni!!! They always struggle with me too, I would have made a rubbish junkie!! Grin How long will it take before you get your results? X x

MrsExtraOrdinary · 15/09/2014 09:16

Oooo genni I have rubbish veins too! Hopefully you've got a professional blood person and not a dippy doctor! I find the ones taking the blood day in day out are the best. Fx it goes ok for you. Smile Just think another job, jobbed! Wink

spinningirl10 · 15/09/2014 09:54

Genni, good luck with blood test, I hate having blood taken!

gennibugs · 15/09/2014 10:17

Thanks all! I always thought it was just me with rubbish veins!

Thankfully she knew what she was doing and it wasn't too bad.

Results this afternoon, so fx!!

Aprilray · 15/09/2014 10:59

FX Genni. I'm waiting for my fertility MOT now. Hate having blood taken, I always get dizzy and faint as I am so squeamish. It's embarrassing!
Will read back properly later.

lucieloos · 15/09/2014 11:00

Good luck Genni, hope everything is ok. Are you having the day 21 tests at gp or private clinic? I'm thinking maybe I should get them done and can't decide whether to make an appt at gp and wait 2 weeks or pay £30 and get it done ASAP.

impatienceisavirtue · 15/09/2014 11:04

Lucie I had my 21 day test at the GP last week. I asked him the week before, he said yeah just book in on day 21. I had them done Tuesday morning and saw the GP that Thursday for the results. No wait at all.

Everything was great, progesterone 77, which I don't know how I feel about as at least if they'd found hinky levels it is something they could try to fix but hey ho.

My GP is fantastic though, he didn't mind sending DH for a SA when we had only been trying for six months. We are 14 months in now and he's referred us to the fertility clinic. I think it is a lottery as to what GP you get but it's worth trying them first

ChandlersFarang · 15/09/2014 11:11

Good luck to you too April, let us know how you get on!! Smile X x

lucieloos · 15/09/2014 11:21

Thanks impatience, my surgery is a bit of a pain and can never get appts unless we book 3 weeks in advance. So I would need to wait 3 weeks for my initial appt with gp and then wait again until day 21 for another appt as am likely to have just missed that. Hmm I shall have a think. I still have a pelvic ultrasound that I need to book in as part of my infertility investigation package so maybe I will get that done first and then see what they suggest.
