Hi.. We have a 20 month old daughter, me & my husband have decided days before my next injection we want to try for another baby. Cancelling my appointment tomorrow morning. I have been on the depo for 17 months now so 5 shots in total. I have had no fertility problems, my periods stopped when had my first depo injection.
How long does it take to get pregnant? How long does it take if you dont have next depo to have it all out of the body, in my case tomorrow is date for what would have been my next depo? Do you have to get your periods back before getting pregnant?
What helps getting pregnant after coming off depo injections?
Thanks!

Hi I was on depo came off it July last year, it's took about 5 months for af to re appear for me I took agnus castus, a herbal supliment, to bring af on so it's worth a shot, I started using opks once it appeared and get positives round about the right time. Still no bfp for me one year on, they say it can take up to a year to get back to normal I've read up on it a lot! And it affects everyone differently good luck

it can take a year or more to ovulate after having the depo so I hope you are one of the lucky ones who takes less time to become fertile again. I didnt get on with depo (weight gain and bleeding). good luck Thanks

Any time after its due you can ovulate if you dont have it, but in practice it can take up to a year as the pp said.

Make sure you are taking folic acid from now. If you fall pregnant on the first month you ovulate then you may not get a period first. Sometimes you can have periods without releasing an egg but usually the first sign that you ovulated that month is when you get the period.

Good luck :-)

I had my last depo shot last April and first period in June this year, not regular though :( I had a 29 day cycle after my period in June but now I'm currently on cd 35 with no sign of af or a positive pregnancy test!! What I'd pay to just be able to click my fingers and be back to normal.

Hope you're luckier than me, good luck OP :)

I've done a lot of reading on this recently, I came off Depo in February this year, still no sign of AF thought i'm getting monthly cramps and bloating so symptoms of it. Going to get some OPK's soon to see if I am ovulating, but not holding my breath. Generally it takes 12 months for it to be clear, but can be up to 24 months :( Bloody depo!

hi, it is different for everyone but I was late going for my injection a while back by two days and nurse refused to do it until i had my period in case i was pregnant, i hadnt even dtd the week leading up to it so impossible but she still point blank refused.

5 months later still no AF went to another nurse who advised if i hadnt started my family then to come off the depo as she knew it took 32 months for one womans AF to return. In the end she prescribed me cilest (when my period came) and i just srtated taking it anyhow and it kick started my periods again!!!

good luck to you all waiting and hopefully it wont take you too long but it annoys me how no one is ever told this by nurses and gps before they are given the depo! FX for you all. Also i have also heard angus cactus is v good for regulating your period so may be wortha shot.

Yes! Agnus Castus is meant to be great, I have some in cupboard to start taking from next af. :)
