Hi all. I'm a 37 year old woman, married to my hubby who is 41. We have two boys, aged 10 and 4 and we have been trying (only recently) to conceive our third and final child. Over the previous 6 months to 1 year I have been observing/determining my ovulation date. This past month, I also purchased a ovulation kit. The first day I took it (15 days into my cycle it was negative, then the next morning (16 days into my cycle) I done the test and got a positive. My husband and I, then dtd that evening (on a Thurs) and again on the Saturday. I then had the stretchy discharge (sorry if tmi) on the following Monday and Tuesday.

So my question is, when did I ovulate...on the Monday/Tuesday or on the Thursday? I'm guessing the Monday and Tuesday? So as we had sex over the fertile period, why didn't I fall pregnant (well don't think so)?

I started bleeding bright red blood on Thursday this week (which would make my cycle 28 days) but my periods still haven't come on fully (now Saturday) and although I am using a tampon, there isn't much on it, but I still feel like they will be coming on fully soon. So, I don't think I ovulate bang on 14 days in my cycle and even if I did conceive, the implantation would have only taken place mid week (approximately) this week, so would I still have a period? My cycle is usually 30 days and I usually ovulate 13-11 days prior to the 30 days. I didn't have implantation bleeding with my other two so am thinking it's not that?

I'm a little disappointed as it's taken a while for my hubby to say he wanted a third and I don't want to miss the opportunity. I'm now starting to wonder what's happening inside, maybe we're too old now, especially when having sex at the most fertile time?!

Just to add, we've been away with our boys this week and been on push go-karts and I'm now wondering if that has someone stopped implantation?!

I've also been feeling nauseous/queasy and been really tired but now thinking it's all psychological!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Confused

Hi :)

First off, if everyone got pregnant by having sex at the time of ovulation/stretchy cervical mucus - then there would not be much need for a conception board at all. There are ladies on here that have been trying for months/years after timing sex just right and still not pregnant. Ttc takes time.

Opk tests can only detect the luteal hormone surge that indicates you are about to ovulate, which could be why you didn't get the stretchy mucus until a few days later.

Hope this helps. :)

Just because you didn't conceive on the first try doesn't mean there is anything wrong, so don't worry. Stop panicking :)
I don't think pushing go karts would have affected implantation.
