to try or not to try

We have discussed having another baby and we are both liking the idea. I have a mirena coil fitted and I am also on antidepressants for PND.

I have discussed coming off these with my doctor but am still unsure. Im terrified that the big black hole will open up and swallow me again. He is very supportive (even though we rnt even talking today hole different story tho). Has anyone else been in this position with some words of advice?

had bad bad bad PND after DS - waited until 'knew' i was better - just felt in my bones it would not come back - this took long time though - 4 years - but also knew if had another baby while unwell, definitely a very bad thing. worth long wait though. came off tablets (slowly) in June 2004 - made sure was well, then started trying - result was birth of DD and not a hint of PND and she is now 14 months old and all is well......worth a wait if you are a bit shaky as even the 'wellest' of mums can find newborn hard to manage. how old is your baby?

I just keep thinking what if being pregnant messed up my hormones and being pregnant again will fix em? Or am I just trying to convince myself IM doing the right thing?

the way i looked at it was this - i knew if had no more kids, would definitely be seriously depressed, whereas only a possibility of being depressed after another baby.

so once in a position to try for baby, went to docs to get assurances that once baby arrived, i wold get extra attention from HV so any dip would be caught quickly.

they were fab and HV really great came twice just after baby born and was really there for me. but luckily, all was well.
