Hi

I am new to mumsnet and just wanted to start a new thread for those who have maybe just started ttc or have been for a while and their goal is to get a bfp before xmas this year.

I have just started ttc and not long off microgynon so waiting to see what happens. Not telling anyone as me and DP want to keep it to ourselves until bfp to avoid any pressure so just looking for some internet friends to chat to!

Hi there, I'd like to join you lovely ladies. Have been half heartedly ttc # 1 for 3 months and am now going to make a concerted effort to put a bit more effort into it. Hoping for a BFP before Christmas.

TheDalek · 03/09/2014 20:08

Can I join in? We're both early 30s and I'm impatiently in the 2ww (due Sat) and been TTC for four months. Hoping for a baby by Christmas. Each month I'm sure I'm pregnant Hmm but hopefully my symptoms will be real this time! Smile

Bluebird89 · 03/09/2014 20:12

Or maybe 12 weeks isn't very long and I should just wait it out. Aghh I don't know!

TheDalek · 03/09/2014 20:17

I don't think there can be any harm in going for it, but then I'm doing the same and I've not been doing it long either. Although I think there might be a problem of it turning into a proper slog which you end up dreading, so not living your life by it type concerted effort iyswim?

idlefolly · 03/09/2014 21:34

Bluebird, still no AF for me. I was thinking 12 weeks then doctors too, I think that's a reasonable amount of time considering how every doctor/nurse/health practitioner keeps telling us that our fertility should return a few days after removal. Agh! Confused

Thepurplegiraffe · 03/09/2014 22:43

Whatever they say about the implant I didn't get pregnant until about 6 months after having it out, though I wasn't trying too hard for the first few months, but I'm sure it had some effect...

Bluebird89 · 04/09/2014 05:03

Just talking about getting my period back at this stage giraffe. How long did that take for you?

Thepurplegiraffe · 04/09/2014 08:38

I had been on the implant so long that they had come back before I ever came off. Sorry thats not very helpful I know. But I had heard it can take a while to conceive after coming off the implant.

Thepurplegiraffe · 04/09/2014 08:39

12 weeks does seem like a long time to get AF back though...

Freedom40 · 04/09/2014 11:52

thepurplegiraffe i know what you mean about redundancy. you should check your mat leave policy as companies get really technical and picky these days. they made a woman at my job redundant in November and she was due to go on mat leave in Feb. they then took her off payroll in august so she only got 6 months mat leave not the normal 1 year. not sure what happened there but there are 2 things you should check for. 1) what week must you reach to get mat leave/pay? for us its 15 weeks before your Expected Week of Child birth (EWC). if you make it to this week then they have to pay you for the time. even if you notify them at month 4 they can still make you redundant before you reach the mark.

Ladies make sure you read your mat leave policies or you could be in for a shock. Companies are also making changes and not tell people.

what the doctors don't stress to you when you go on BC is that it can take up to 6 months to get cycles back. it took me 95 days after breakthrough bleed to get AF back. I had normal cycles before this. if i knew i would have stopped BC sooner. with implants and injections it takes a little longer than the pill but everyone is different.

i friend of mine stopped the pill and was BFP within 3 months. So it's lots of positive thoughts and no stress as the goal for all of us TTC.

wish i had done more research to see different options when considering BC but I know for next time and if i have a DD i will know what to tell her.

Gemerama82 · 04/09/2014 13:59

Cycle 6, CD28 and period should be due today or tomorrow. Fx and baby dust please everyone.

I know it's a long shot for us but I can't help hoping!

Thepurplegiraffe · 04/09/2014 15:54

Thanks Freedom I looked into this last time as I thought it might happen then and it is the same. If I am made redundant before 15 weeks I get nothing. But don't see what choice we have, I don't want the age gap to be too big which if I wait for the next job it will be. So the sooner I get pregnant the longer I can get paid for into the pregnancy. Hopefully redundancy pay would cover the rest but only if it happens soon enough...
AF is due today but nothing yet....

Thepurplegiraffe · 04/09/2014 16:50

Plus the fact that I am 36 now and don't want to risk leaving it too long...

Freedom40 · 04/09/2014 17:19

I hear you purple I'm going to be 40 soon so sitting on the same bench as you. Gemerama82 I've just dumped the equivalent of the ice bucket challenge of baby dust over you FX.

birdboo · 04/09/2014 17:50

Do you have space for one more? I'm on CD1 so now seems a good time to start. I don't think I've ever cried more when I started. We were going to wait but I don't feel like I can now my heart is else where.

Bluebird89 · 04/09/2014 21:38

freedom I read an article yesterday saying exactly what you've said! The doctors always seem to fail to mention how long after BC it takes for our bodies to get back to normal so it ends up with all these women like us not having a clue what's going on! As you say, had I known I'd have either had it removed well in advance or not had it in the first place. Ah well waiting game it is I guess.

creamhearts · 04/09/2014 21:40

Hello to everyone new :)

I am on CD29 it is so annoying having longer cycles, I still have another week to wait before I can POAS, but I don't feel hopeful this month.

FX for everyone else xxx

Thepurplegiraffe · 04/09/2014 22:01

Still waiting for AF which was due today here. I am normally very regular so I am feeling a little bit hopeful. Could be nothing though.

Bluebird89 · 04/09/2014 22:11

FX giraffe!

Freedom40 · 04/09/2014 22:33

Is it just me or has mumsnet had an upgrade? Loving the new look on my android phoneGrin

SueBridehead · 05/09/2014 06:45

Creamhearts, I have longer cycles as well an it's so annoying waiting... Still another week :(

Just out of interest, which day do you normally ovulate? I think I'm around 18/19 which would make my luteral period very long as cycle is about 33/34.. Not sure if that can be right!

GeorgieF16 · 05/09/2014 15:08

Hi All,

Can I join?

I'm 25 and my fiance is 32. We have our wedding booked in 2016 and decided we want to ttc #1 before. I came off cerazette at the end of May. Whilst on cerazette I had no periods for the 3 years I was taking it. I have had no withdrawal bleed or af since coming off in May so have no idea at all where I am in my cycle. I went to the GP's 3 weeks ago today and she said there is nothing to worry about as it had only been 3 months and can sometimes take a while to get back to normal. She said to go back in a month if nothing had happened and then she will run some test's if I want.
I'm trying not to worry/stress out as I know that doesn't help but I can't help it! I'm trying not to symptom spot but this week I've had to pee more often than normal and have felt tired with a niggling headache!

Anyone with a similar story?

Pigriver · 06/09/2014 00:04

I am on CD11 and am pretty sure I am due to ovulate this weekend. Started DTD in preparation and hopefully can manage a few times this weekend!

I usually have a fairly standard 28 day cycle but it was only 24 last month. ATM I am very excited by the idea of getting a BFP but really nervous...I mean this is it isn't it? Not more lie ins or lazy weekends!

Bluebird89 · 06/09/2014 05:42

Yay AF has arrived!! Smile
