JUST COME OFF THE PILL AFTER 10 YEARS

Hi, I've just stopped taking my pill after 10 years. We have had sex 3 times so far since Thursday. I took an ovulation test but the second line was only very faint. I also took a pregnancy test even though I knew it would be negative as I'm impatient.

Anyway, time seems to be passing slowly. I've been feeling really hot lately which is not normal for me but as I have just come off the pill I'm not sure when my next period would be due.

Question is... What experience have people had with coming off the pill and how quickly did you fall pregnant?

Reading up on pregnancy makes it sounds so difficult and complicated to fall pregnant. Makes me wonder how people get pregnant by accident.

It's possible to get pregnant from one missed pill but not that likely. When I came off the pill I had a month of weird symptoms - mood swings, sore boobs, etc. Then I had a v heavy period after 45 days. The next month I got pg.

Good luck!

I feel your frustration!
I've been off the pill for only a few days and have only had sex once, but am desperately impatient and keep wanting to do a test. Though it would be highly unlikely that I'd be pregnant already.

Been in cerazette for a ling time, 17 years on various pills. My body may take a while to adjust I think.

Good luck and here's hoping for a bfp soon! :)

Hi ladies, I came off the pill in may after 17 yrs. cycle 1 51 days, af very very light for 5 days. Cycle 2 25 days and normal af for 6 days and 1 v light day. Currently I'm cycle 3 day 17, I'm hoping cycles r now back I a rhythm and am assuming will b 25-28 days long but not sure.
Looked at loads of posts when I came off pill as also felt very impatient and want to b the 1 that fell month 1. Whilst there are some folk it happens for, there are others it doesn't and it seems to take a anything from1 - 6 months for cycles to get back in a cycle, some poor ladies take longer but this seems the norm if there is such a thing! Good luck on your journey.

I came off the pill in the end of Decemeber, my cycles were all over the place to start with, and took roughly till May to get back to normal and then in June i took Pregnacare conception and my period was over a week and a half late, try not to worry and stress which is easier said than done, the one symptom i had was very sore boobs but did not notice much else

sherbertlemon17 · 12/08/2014 21:05

Unfortunately I'm one of those poor ladies who it has taken longer for waves

I stopped the pill literally the 1st week in Jan and still haven't had my first real period! Confused I've since done my research and and it is quite common but should be checked out. If you still haven't had a period after 3 months go to the GP.

I don't want to worry you ladies, and I'm sure I'm just unlucky but I didn't know it could take so long when I stopped the pill... so I suppose I just want to keep you informed because I had no one who told me.

I came off in April after 8 years on the pill and have had cycles lasting 34, 31 and then 30 days and am currently on day 31 of my first cycle TTC (cycle 4 off the pill).

Lauramatt25 · 13/08/2014 01:05

I worked out the the first day of my last period was 27th July so hopefully I am ovulating now.

I just want time to pass so I can do a test. I'm guessing my period will be due at the end of August. I am well stocked up on pregnancy tests and ovulation tests ready!

It's strange because you spend most of your time on the pill or what ever trying not to get pregnant... You never really know how long it will take to get pregnant!

Good luck to everyone trying! I am just impatient and I shouldn't expect to fall pregnant straight away!

P.s I am new to this forum and am unsure of most of the abbreviations!

I am in a similar situation. I took my last pill on 27th July, started prenatal vitamins and began ttc straight away. I have to say the last two and a half weeks have been a roller coaster with regards to how I'm feeling.

I have had constant cramping in my stomach area (mostly mild but sometimes sore) and pains in both sides of my lower back. My stomach is bloated and I have had a lot of gurgling and wind. I have also had the odd wave of nausea which I think maybe caused by the prenatal vitamins.

If my cycle returns to 'normal' 28 days this month (this is unlikely I know) then my period would be due 24th August. So I will wait until 31st August and if still no AF then I will take a test.

Has anyone else had these kind of cramps, pains, bloating, nausea after coming off the pill, or could something else be causing it?

Thanks in advance :-)

I came off the pill three months ago. And I am using Ovia app to record my data.
I have just had my first 28 day cycle and AF came as projected so I am hoping that is me starting to function normally again.
This is our 1st cycle TTC so fingerscrossed!

Good luck all x

I came off the pill in January after 12 years. I thought my cycles had regulated pretty quickly with cycles of 36 days, 28, 31, 31, 29 but am now on CD 49 or 50 (lost count!) with BFN after BFN and no pg symptoms so have no idea what my body is playing at!
