First time TTC and bleeding

Hi, I'm 35 and only just started ttc. This month I ovulated and we tried 8 days ago. After a few days I had some spotting but now it seems quite a heavy bleed, like a light period and being going on for nearly 5 days now. Any idea what has happened here? Should I be worried? I did an ultra early test which was negative but I expected that much anyway as it is still very early. Advice appreciated.

When you say you just started TTC, have you come off birth control? That can affect your cycle and cause bleeding / spotting at random times. Also, did you confirm ovulation with temps or blood tests? They are the only true ways to confirm it. You could be having implantation bleeding although solidly for 5 days and only three days after "ovulation" is unusual. Generally, any cycle straight after birth control is generally a crazy cycle! I think you'll just have to pay the waiting game I'm afraid Sad

I have been off the pill since January, been using other methods since then and all has been fine. It's definitely not a hormone readjust.

Are you on any new tablets or anything.

When I took the pre conception well woman tablets I bled for a week mid cycle.

Good also be ovulation bleeding but I dont think thats normally 5 days.

No, no tablets. This is why I am starting to worry.

Then I don't know!

I can guess that you might not have actually ovulated this cycle and this is a withdrawal bleed that you can count as the start of your next cycle.

Or you might have an ovarian cyst that is causing the bleeding. If it is this, you don't need to worry as the bleeding means it has "burst" and your cycle will go back to normal. Women get them more than we think.

It could be ovulation bleeding from a number of different follicles maturing although it's highly unlikely to be this with the length of the bleed you have had.

The only thing I think you can do is keep taking some HPTs or take your bbt temps to see what is happening or wait it out. Very frustrating and confusing for you!
