Most reliable test?

We've been trying for just one cycle so was really surprised, while in hols last week, when AF didn't turn up as expected. I've also been symptom spotting like mad, have had an upset stomach, headaches, heartburn and today woke up with a metallic taste in my mouth.

I'm now back from holiday and am 5 days late. I took a clear blue digi test yesterday and today, both negative. Can they be wrong? I'm never usually late...

Shall I try a different type? Which is most reliable?

Did you use early morning urine?

I think they're pretty similar. Some are more sensitive - look for the ones this can be used before you're actually late.

False negatives are not uncommon. Fingers crossed.

Thanks for replying.

I didn't use early morning urine the first time so thought this might be the reason but used it today and also got the negative result.

Do you think I should leave it a few days and try again? We are TTC no. 1 so this is all very new to me. I am using one of those tracking apps and, according to it, was due last Sunday...

Apparently Clearblue Digi tests aren't as sensitive as many on the market.

Maybe try a First Response? Make sure you use the first morning urine, as that's most concentrated because you haven't had a drink for so many hours.

But, having said that, you're late, so the pregnancy hormone should be quite predominate in your system by now and should be picked up on any test. Either that, or you ovulated a lot later than you thought you did.

I'd maybe test with a First Response and see what that result that gives you. If not, I'd maybe see your doctor and tell him what's going on as you said you are never usually late. He might be able to do some blood tests and see what the hcg levels are in your blood to determine whether you're actually pregnant or not :)

Hopefully I've helped a bit, keep us updated?!
