Bfp, period - when will it end?!

Sorry if this isn't the right subforum but I wondered if anyone has any advice?

I did a test, v faint BFP (pink dye, sister agreed). A few days later I had a very pink period, not overly heavy but enough for a pad rather than a panty liner.
Did another test (same brand) after period and BFN.
This was 2/3 weeks ago (can check!).
But I'm still feeling very sicky.

Any ideas?

I'm sorry, but it sounds like you might have had a chemical pregnancy. Was your period pretty much on time/just a few days late?

A chemical pregnancy happens when the egg is fertilised but doesn't implant properly. You get an early, faint positive result, followed by your period, pretty much on time and not heavier than usual.

They are extremely common and don't mean anything bad. It's estimated that 75% of pregnancies end this way. As many women aren't actively trying/don't test early, they often go undetected. It's only since we've had super-sensitive tests like First Response that it's been possible to pick them up. I've had two myself, and try not to test early nowadays.

The other possibility is that you did the second test at a time of day when your HCG was low or after you'd drunk a lot of water, producing a false negative, but at 4-5 weeks post-ovulation you'd expect to see a positive at any time of day really.

You can find more information here: miscarriage.about.com/od/onetimemiscarriages/p/chemicalpreg.htm

I'm sorry for your loss Thanks

Best of luck for your next round of trying.

PS This is definitely the right forum for your question.

Thank you for confirming what I thought.
The post-period test (bfn) was with fmu whereas the BFP was later in the day. I tested when my period was 3 days late.

At least it confirms I'm ovulating? [pollyannaemicon]

Fingers crossed for the next one...

I went to my GP after I had my first chemical, and she told me it was a good sign as it meant we were fertile. So I think you're right to look at it positively.

Best of luck!

Update:
I still feel like crap (eating loads, feeling so nauseous etc) and even my nan commented on my boobs being rounder (haven't worn a bra in several weeks as they're so uncomfortable...). Added to that I also have quite a tender, round tummy that's more solid lower down.
And more negative tests.

I've also looked at my dates again:
1-10 June period (it can't have been that long but that's what I've put into my phone?)
12-13 June EWCM
11 June DTD
12 June DTD
13 June DTD
26-27 period (this was where I started getting confused - usually 3/4 days, v v heavy for 2 then not much)
23 July BFP (was 2 days late)
25-28 period but barely-there
21 August due on

Any ideas? Really sick of feeling sick

Oh and (TMI!) I thought I was getting thrush but there's no itchiness! What could this be?

I would suggest doing another test op and if still bfn then see your gp.

I'm just really wanting to know either way Confused
Latest negative was today but I really dislike doctors!

I'm in a similar situation.. I hope you don't mind me intruding!

I tested when my period was 5 days late and got two BFPs. Then I started bleeding exactly a week after my period was due :( then I tested after I'd stopped bleeding and got a BFN. But my 'symptoms' have doubled... I'm getting more tired (didn't think it was possible, but it is!), I'm getting more severe and frequent dizziness, my boobs are just as sore and I'm having food adversions and heightened sense of smell. I'm so confused!!

Hopefully you get the answers you want soon JustAnotherYellowBelly, I know just how frustrating it is... X

So I had spotting yesterday and slightly more today and some twinges, more pully than crampy. Also keep going light headed like I'm on a sugar low (but I've eaten).
Is it worth phoning OOH or just getting on with it?

I feel really silly asking all this but am home alone (with the kitten) and no one else to ask Confused

Hi Yellow - wow, that sounds like a confusing situation!

I know I'm a bit late replying, but I wonder if you should try making an appointment with your GP. They may be able to offer you a blood test which will be more accurate than pee sticks.

I'm not keen on needles myself, so I know what you mean about not wanting to go. But to be honest, if you do succeed in getting pregnant you'll be seeing healthcare professionals a fair bit. So it might be worth getting a bit of exposure in now Smile

If they're anything like my experience of doctors with these things, they'll be lovely.

Good luck
