TTC Number 2!

winterjellycat · 05/08/2014 15:57

Hey Ladies! Smile

My beautiful little boy is now 8 months old, and DH has said today he'd like to start TTC number 2!!!

I'm not really sure how well that will work as I'm still BF DS a good 4-5 times a day, just to get him to sleep really, and often he has his morning nap in his pushchair if we are out and about so he doesn't BF then...I'm trying to wean him off of needing it for every nap starting with his morning nap. He still wakes up once (sometimes twice) in the night though...

But I'm pretty excited about trying anyway, even if it is a little harder with me BF Grin.

I know DS is pretty young but at the moment there would be a 17 month age gap, which will obviously increase as each month passes and DH pointed out it took us almost a year TTC DS so it's best we get started incase it does take a while.

I'm a bit worried about how this will affect DS though Sad...he's our whole world and we dote on him soooo much, it's not that that would change with another baby but obviously at times myself or DH will be busy with the baby and DS might want us and I don't want him to ever less loved or replaced or anything, as daft as that probably sounds.

Anybody else TTC number 2? How old is your first?

Would be great to reconnect on here with ladies in a similar position SmileThanks

Hi,

I am currently trying for number 2. My DC is now almost 1. I never went back on my pill after DC was born but still not pregnant as far as I know! I got pregnant first month of trying for DC1 so very frustrated!

I breastfed for about 8 months and only got my first period 2 months ago. The gap between my periods was 38 days so frustrating as I was very regulR (on the pill) previous to DC1.

I just want to be pregnant now lol!

Did my ovulation tests this month and got some lines but I was away for 2 nights without DH when the lines were dark so I think I may have missed this month - gutted!

I'm a pregnancy test Addict since I bought a batch of cheap tests from amazon and am already testing (silly I know). I'm on day 31 of my cycle and so far all BFN
X

In terms of the effect on DS I know this sounds harsh but if you want another baby that might just be the price you pay for a short while. Both me and my DH have siblings less than 2 years Apart and whilst there was obv some jealously we all largely get on well now for the most part. I do worry a bit too but I've always wanted two babies close together so guess I'll have to live with the out come if I am lucky enough to conceive soon

Hi ladies hope you don't mind me joining.

My DD is almost 16 months and both DH and I don't want a large gap as we will stop after 2 so I wanted them to be closer in age (plus I still have the energy!!)

It took 13 months with DD though; I have PCOS and had very irregular AF (some cycles were 72 days+). Since having DD though I've become more regular and I think that I ovulated yesterday so currently 1DPO! Forgot how terrifying and exciting the 2ww was. Just hope it doesn't take as long as last time, although I'm armed with clomid for next month if nothing 'sticks' this cycle :)

finalyfine · 05/08/2014 20:01

Hi
My DS is 11 months next week and this is our third cycle of trying. it took 6 moths of trying to conceive him.

As there is no perfect age gap between siblings we decide to copy our parents. since both me and my DH both come from large families we decided to compare our own experience with our own siblings. since we are both closer to our siblings that are closer to us by age. we are trying to replicate it for our children.

StarsforAngels · 05/08/2014 21:01

finaly - I am in a similar position sibling wise. Good luck everyone. I probably only have a few days before I know either way about this months efforts. I just don't have the 'feeling' this month if you know what I mean. For DS I had such strange feeling nipples from very early on. I tested negative even then when I 'knew'. It was only about 5 days later that I tested again and got my BFP. Part of me knows it is pointless testing at the moment as if last month is a trend I still have 7 days to go till AF is due but I just can't stop! It's horrible though as I get so disheartened every time I get a negative but such a buzz waiting for the result!

Think I need to get a life!

:p

Hi

Thanks for joining me Smile.
I too had forgotten the nervous, excited anticipation of TTC!

We've decided we don't want to tell our families/friends until we get a BFP so I'm glad to have somebody to talk to this stuff about Smile.

I think you're probably right stars, it's just something DS will have to adjust to, DH is an only child and I have 5 sisters so we have always wanted 2-3 children of our own.

We are hoping for 2 years being the maximum age gap so DH says we have a few months yet but I so want to fast forward to that BFP day! I'm super impatient GrinGrin

Good luck ladies, please keep us updated! BrewThanks

good luck winter - I have not told my family that I am trying - my mum is far too interfering for my liking and will have planned my birth/baby stuff before I have even finished the 'I am expecting a baby' sentence. I have told people I know that I would like a baby but again I try to play it down. Silly isn't it - when it is the most natural thing of all but it almost seems too personal to share and plus you need your privacy at these times.

If I am honest I thought I would have been pregnant by now. I am so impatient and don't really like the whole 'trying' thing...I know I should be pleased but I am not massively up for sex at the moment with a 1 year old.

I tested again today - day 32 and got a BFN. I want to believe I am pregnant but deep down I am just not feeling 'it' this month. I am a little run down at the moment though with a cold - keep hoping that is a sign but just not sure.

As I said before my cycle was 38 days last month. I am very jealous of people who have 28/30 day cycles as I hate waiting!!!!!

Personally for me despite being only almost 30 and the only person among my close friends 'pre' (obv have had to make a whole new group of friends) baby I can still feel the biological clock ticking. This might be weird for someone of my age but I do feel it and I really don't want to wait years to try for a baby when you never know how long you have got in terms of fertility.
If I am honest I am not even really a 'baby' person but I have a massive desire to have children/continue the genes - weird I know esp when I used to go out of my way to avoid babies (apart from my own obv)

Good luck and baby dust to all.

So glad I found this thread.

DD is 9 months and we've just started TTC no 2. Actually this one would technically be no 3 but there's a very large age gap so it doesn't really count Smile

Winter I'm also still bf. Only three times a day now and all pretty short. Going to drop one in a couple of weeks and see how we look from there.

I've no idea about my cycles really as no period as yet Hmm however I may have ovulated this month. Or it might just have been weird CM.

Fingers tossed for us all. Not sure well manage to DTD every night like we did when we conceived DD. Hope you ladies are cracking on Grin

winterjellycat · 07/08/2014 09:56

Omg stars my mil is just like that! When we got pg with DS she seemed to think she got a say in everything...even his name!! She even told us just after we registered his birth that she didn't like it and we should call him Jack instead which is totally different to his name in every way! Hmm

Don't be disheartened by BFNs, it will happen for us all soon (hopefully really soon lol!). I know what you mean about not being too into the hole trying thing though, it's difficult to find the right time when you've got a young child already Sad.

Welcome Anything!! Thanks
I also have no idea what my cycles are like but the GP told me it's not impossible to get pregnant before having a cycle after childbirth (she said this while offering me contraception ironically Grin). I'm tempted to go and buy a batch of ovulation tests and test like every week so that I know what's going on! But I have a really positive feeling this month and I think I should be able to test around the 17th soooo I'm going to wait until then if not I will buy the ovulation tests, positive energy until then! Grin

I have napped with DS twice today!
Half an hour this morning and two hours this evening!! I'm pretty surprised at myself! Really hoping it's a positive sign though I'm probably just reading too much into it hahaha Grin

hi all, can I join? DD is 3 next month and just started ttc no.2
I had the mirena coil removed last month and today started ertd so its official ttc time! no idea re cycles but its been 27 days since coil came out so would be a fab thing if it meant I was going to be 27/28 days!
good luck everyone :)

winterjellycat · 10/08/2014 16:43

Hi Alien welcome!

I caved and bought ovulation tests a couple of days ago...I hope I get pregnant soon or else I will probably bankrupt us buying these tests all the time lol Grin

How are you all doing?

finalyfine · 10/08/2014 17:07

My AF is very irregular and i don't want to buy ovulation tests. im already hocked on pregnancy tests (even though DP is so much worse) don't want another addiction. Im also breast feeding which i believe is messing up my cycle. Anyway i was wondering do any of you just know that you were pregnant with your first without a test? i didn't. only clue i had was a very late AF

winterjellycat · 10/08/2014 20:52

I knew with DS. On mothers day 2013 (March 10th) I went to see my mum and came home on the 11th. That evening DH picked me up at the train station and I said to him I was sure I was pregnant but that we wouldn't be able to test for 2 weeks because I wasn't due AF for another 2 weeks.
On March 23rd we did a test (well actually 5 tests) and got our BFP Smile
