QUESTION about ovulation and the sticks

i am a little confused on the ovulation sticks..when i get a positive does this mean i am ovulating or will do in the next 24/48hours.

if that is the case for example if i get a pos on cd17 and ovulate on cd18 of a 28 day cycle i am cutting it very fine for implantation to happen? is this correct?

it means you will do over the next 24 to 48 hours so you should have sex as soon after a positive result as you can .. ie same day

if you get a pos on CD17 you will probably ovulate CD18 or CD19 .. so the sperm should meet the egg on those days (so worth having sex on 17 and 19) .. implantation happens when the fertilised egg implants in the womb 3 days later (or is it 10 days .. can't remember) ..and then it burrows down further within the next few weeks .. so some people get implantation bleeding around the 6 week mark

Yes it mean ovulation is likely to occur in the next 24-36 hours.

if yo ov on cd 18 and Af arrives cd28 ten days is enough.

oh as for the luteal phase (time between ovulation and start of period) .. 10 days is fine .. its when it gets below the 10 days that there might be a problem

desperate2bmum · 16/09/2006 12:40

ok, so if i ovulate on cd19 and my cycle is 28 days long then its a no go...
i am cd16 today and still neg ov results so hoping for tomorrow. i have ovulated on cd17 before and my cycle was 31 days long but that was a one off.

no not necessarily no go .. how many months have you charted for?

desperate2bmum · 16/09/2006 16:33

have been charting as such

1st cycle was 31days and pos ov on cd17

2nd cycle didnt monitor ov but was only 25 days long

3rd cycle am on cd16 now and no sign of ov

I understand how desperate you can feel when you want to conceive

my advice would be to chart for at least 3 consecutive months ... first day period, date of ovulation, days you have sex is enough then you can establish if there is any pattern .. as you don't know when you ovulated in your 25 days cycle you don't know if there is a problem really

I used to ovulate on day 23 of my cycle .. I understand how anxious you can get ..

Hi- I've just started using the POAS ov and find it quite hard to see if the line is darker or the same as the other to indicate ov...For 3 days now I've had lines that appear as dark as the control line- is that poss- for 3 days I mean?

TIA

Twiglett · 16/09/2006 18:58

it should be noticeably darker .. hth

desperate2bmum · 16/09/2006 19:59

thankyou for all your help, i will start charting accurately from now on.

Thanks Twiglett- good luck d2bemum...we'll have to compare notes!!!

Twiglett · 16/09/2006 21:00

d2bm .. supposedly high dosage B6 can help extend luteal phase .. you'd have to ask for it because you need between 100 and 200 mg .. and it takes a few months to build up .. but the way I seeit .. it can't hurt

HTH too

In my experience don't rely to heavily on the ovulation tests.

The month I fell pregnant was the month my ov test came back neg and we only had sex once (TMI!) I thought there was no way I would be pregnant so I was just concentrating on the following month but low and behold I got a positive preg test!

I think these ovulation sticks just make the whole process so much more stressful. We tried for 18 months which as time went by we got more and more conserned that something could be wrong but in the end it I'm glad I didn't follow what the ovulation tests were saying and next time we are trying I'm not even going to waste my money on buying them!!

Good luck
