Want to conceive and overweight!! Need advice

I have a DS who is 5 years old. I gained 35-40 kg weight during the pregnancy for no apparent reason but never managed to shed it. I breast fed DS for1.5 yrs but that did not help at all.

I now want to conceive DC2 and saw my GP today who advised to loose 10-15 kg before I DTD.

Has anyone else been in this situation? What did you do? I want to do what is best for the baby and me.

But I don't want to wait too much. Any help and advice would be gratefully received.

Thanks.

do you really mean kg? 40kg is 88lbs which is over 6 stone. Just double checking really

how heavy are you and what is your BMI? I was around 15 stone before getting pregnant with both of mine.

I don't understand kg but I was about 16st when I got pregnant and lost weight due to awful ms but I had none of the complications that they try to scare you with. Unless you are having trouble getting pregnant I wouldn't worry I'm back at pre pregnancy size and have no intention on trying to lose weight before ttc number 2.

ilove I was nearly 70 kg before conceiving and 100 kg on the date of DS's birth. I'm 100 kg now. I feel so unfit. I feel miserable.
My BMI is 33.

Your post is reassuring though. I know the risks are not as bad as they seem to make them. But still...

Still dwindling. Had I not had the conversation with my GP,DH and I would have been at it this very moment.

Sorry I did write a massive message earlier but phone died.

What is scary? Did you have any problems in your first pregnancy? Did you have a natural birth? From what I remember a lot of the problems effect you not the baby, a consultant told me that my weight wasn't really an issue I was clearly fit and healthy and that my midwife was wasting his time by referring me.

I wouldn't let this put you off. If you want to loose weight, even while pregnant, safely, then there are healthy ways like following slimming world (eat one third fruit and veg with every meal - other third lean meat, pasta etc). I have been trying for 8 months to get pregnant. I have lost one stone so far but got a long way to go. I wouldn't put off trying to conceive as, if it takes you a really long time, then you are delaying it.
