Have never posted on MN before but am confused and not sure what to do. Was referred by my GP as we've been TTC for over a year. Saw the Dr at the (NHS) fertility unit who said GP had not done the right blood tests prior to my referral (or done them at the wrong times) so I needed to go and get those done and got a list of the days I needed them on in my cycle. Have irregular cycle so had to wait until AF started to make the test appointments but was told by GPs surgery they are not able to do blood tests on those days. Don't really know what I am meant to do? Does it matter if I have tests one day late - or a day early? Do I wait to next month?

Hi.

The day 3 test should be done ideally on day 3, but can be day 2 if needed.
The day 21 test needs to be done 7 days post ovulation ideally, but can be 6,7,8 or 9 days post ovulation.

The difficulty with irregular cycles is that pin pointing ovulation is also often hard. OPK's may not be reliable. If you are checking your BBT then it makes it slightly easier to be more accurate with getting the "day 21" test done at the right time, if you get a clear biphasic cycle.

Some women find that they have to have the day 21 test done more than once in the month to get an accurate result, as the cycle day 21 will not give a correct result unless you have a normal 28 day cycle!
