i used an ovulation microscope and concieved my ds who is 12 weeks now i am planning on doing the deed tonight so used my ovulation microscope to check i wasn't ovulating so i wouldn't have to use a condom.
i was surprised to see ferns, does this mean im ovulating? i am breastfeeding so it would be odd to be ovulating. does anyone know whether it could be breastfeeding hormones causing the ferns?

Breastfeeding doesn't mean you cannot get pg.
I have 2 close friends who both conceived whilst bf'ing. Their babies were both 8 weeks old ! They both ended up with 2 under 1 yr.

I got pg whilst bf'ing but DS was 11 months (still feeding heaps though). I had planned it to happen so it was different to your situation.

I too use an ov saliva monitor. It can be a bit tempremental at times. I certainly wouldn't use it 'to not get pg'.

Sorry if that's not the answer you were looking for.

I used one whilst breastfeeding (and ttc with no af) and found for a couple of months leading up to af starting again I had ferning on and off. I think its caused by your body trying, but not quite getting there in terms of hormone levels to ovulate. Wouldn't rely on it as a contraceptive though!

The Toni Weshler(?) book Taking Charge Of Your Fertility is very good if you're interested in fertility awareness method and has info on how to do this while breastfeeding.

Probably the wrong place to post this, but I have an Isis scope available free to anyone who wants it if you CAT me your address. I didn't get on with it particularly but am now pg and would love it to go to a good home.

Cheers

Hi there,

I live in Australia and have an ov microscope. In the instructions it says it should not be relied upon if breastfeeding as you still have hormones in your body etc and so you will still get fern pattern.

Hope this helps.
