Help with progesterone levels...

Hi all,

We have been TTC for 1 year now so after a visit to the gp she ordered an abdominal scan as I had been having pain and blood tests.

I had the scan on the Friday but the radiographer wouldn't discuss the result, then the next day my opk gave me a strong result , went to the doctor on the Monday so 2 days later to get a blood test and my progesterone level was 6.4 so doc said I would have not ovulated.

Does anyone have any advice about whether I did ovulate or not as I thought 6.4 was not terrible ?

I think if you only got a positive opk on the Saturday you would have ovulated Sunday at the earliest so a progesterone test would be low at 1 dpo. normal progesterone tests are done at 7 dpo. can you get it done next Monday as I would imagine that is a more realistic test.

good luck - it sounds like the doctor and radiographer are being quite unhelpful. usually I have found radiographers will tell me things unofficially even though they are not allowed to diagnose. sounds like your one was sticking to the rules

Thank you for replying , I got a repeat blood test yesterday and will every week until my period arrives but I've not had the results from that yet x

Your test was taken on the wrong say, needs to be 7 days after ovulation so no wonder it was low. Good luck!

Aww that's encouraging feeling better now fingers crossed for a good result - what would a good result be out of interest ? X

I just looked at my results from a while back and anything above 30 is considered ovulation. (Not sure what unit that is.)

good luck - I am getting my progesterone done tomorrow morning. Fairly sure I am only 4 dpo so not sure what it will be but it will be interesting.....

How were your results? I should find out on Monday which is alot quicker than I expected.

I think again that doesn't indicate ovulation but yet again it wasn't done at 7 dpo. I would guess and I am not an expert you will get your period soon as you ovulated, but the levels of progesterone were already on their way down by the time you got your 2nd test. do you know how long your luteal phase is? I know mine is only 11 days so by 10 dpo my progesterone levels would already be falling.

According to an online calculator my leuteal phase is 13 days ? X
