Trying to conceive after Mirena coil

Hi ladies??

I'm having my mirena coil removed at the end of September after 5 years (and no periods!) and would like the try for baby number 3 with my partner of 5 years.

I have two children from a previous relationship aged 11 and 9, both of which were conceived fairly quickly. I was wondering how long it generally took to conceive after having IUD removed as would love to be pregnant again before Christmas and this would be my partners first child.

Bearing in mind I'm 31 now, not exactly over the hill but still pretty anxious that it might take awhile to conceive.

Thanks ?? x

There is no evidence that it takes any longer to conceive after mirena coil removal. There IS evidence that it takes up to a year after having the depo injection. I would be optimistic that things will follow their natural course (and that may be with or without hormonal contraception). Had you not had a Mirena coil, you may still find yourself trying for longer than you did earlier on as fertility decreases with age. Good Luck!

Watching with interest, I'm also having my Mirena out after I get back from honeymoon at the end of September and have been wondering about this. Does anyone know how long it will take for my periods to return?

Had mine out after having it for 3 years, periods returned pretty much within the month, I was pg with DC3 within 3 months and I was 35 too.

Thanks for the replies ladies :-)

Feel a bit more at ease, been googling this alot lately and came across a few horror stories...must learn to stop doing that lol!

Wow that's really reassuring knowing some of you were in mid-thirties conceiving after Mirena, fingers crossed for me. X
