Irregular cycles after pill - how long?

Hi :)

DH and I are now actively TTC. I came off the pill in September and have had irregular periods since then - one in November, then one every two months since. I know it can take a while for periods to settle down again, just wondered how long is considered normal?

I have a DS already who's 10, not biologically my husband's. I got pregnant insanely easily when I had DS but I was17. I'm finding it quite stressful as I'm worried about my fertility - I had been on the pill since I had DS and had lots of trouble finding one that worked well for me; I also had an abnormal smear and had to have treatment for CIN3 cells around 4 years ago and I'm terrified that it will have some impact.

Anyway. If anyone knows how long it 'normally' takes for cycles to return to normal, I'd be really grateful for any info!

Hmm well there isn't really a normal but most people get back to normal within 6 months to a year. Lots of people's cycles go back to normal straight away too. If you don't get your cycles back to normal by Sept this year I would go to your doctor.

It could be that the pill has been masking this issue for you, I'm afraid I don't know what could be causing the irregular cycles but perhaps someone here could help?
