Libido Vs. Ovulation (An Observation in my efforts TTC)

I've been pretty bad at using aids to track my ovulation so far but I have a regular 28 day cycle and physical changes that indicate ovulation around day 14 are always present. I have noticed a funny thing though each month. My libido tends to sharply increase around day 10-11 of my cycle - it will the strongest at this time of the whole month (and I have the most intense orgasms at this time), while at days 12-14 when I should be ovulating it's not at strong. I have been TTC for a year, late thirties and I know that I should be doing a better job at tracking my ovulation, I just wondered if anyone else has this experience? Is there a link between spikes in libido and ovulation I wonder? I'm beginning to wonder if I am ovulating a little earlier in my monthly cycle instead of between days 12-14.

I think this is quite usual. I have always had my highest libido around ovulation. For me that's day 10-11 of my 28 day cycle.

You may be ovulating earlier than you think?

Waffle - I do wonder. I have a clearblue ovulation test and almost every month I've forgotten to start using it when I should (on day 5 of my cycle) so I've failed so far at tracking OV. For some reason it's only recently occurred to me that it's odd to be physically "horny" for sex ahead of the time I'm theoretically ovulating - you'd think the body/hormones would be better at lining everything up. Maybe I really am ovulating at days 10-11.

Because sperm survives for longer in the body than the egg, being in the mood for sex in the 5 days before ovulation is actually perfect timing from your body's point of view.
