Is it possible to ovulate twice in the cycle immediately after MC?

Hi all

I had a MC on 12th June, spoke to the DR who gave the all clear to start trying again. I didn't bother with OPK's this month as I had no idea when I would ovulate. Last Friday I thought I'd OV'd due to egg white CM (TMI- Sorry!) as was expecting AF as my cycles are usually around 30 days, and its currently 31 days since I MC.

However, today I've had even more egg white CM (Opps, sorry again) so did a quick OPK test and the line isn't as strong as the test line but definitely looks as though I've either recently OV'd or am about too.

Now I know cycles don't usually return straight back to normal after a MC and its impossible to tell when I should expect AF, but is it possible to ovulate twice in a cycle?

Part of me just wishes AF would arrive so I can start a fresh and get back to regular cycles & doing OPKs but part of me hopes I'll catch as I've heard the old tale of being more fertile immediately after a MC.

Any advice greatly appreciated :)

I had an mmc followed by Mva in early may, and it looks like I may have ovulated twice this month - this has never happened in the whole time we've been ttc and I do wonder if the two are related as well.

Sorry for your loss Thanks

Seasidedolly - I'm sorry to hear you miscarried - I hope you're getting lots of support.

Not 100% sure about ovulating twice the month after MC but your hormone levels will go all over the place which can throw your EWCM and OPK out.

I don't know if this will help but I had an ectopic pregnancy (and therefore miscarriage) in April and by my second scan (10 days after miscarrying began) I was already two days off ovulating (the consultant scanned my ovaries and saw that they were ready to go). BUT I didn't have a period until about 5 weeks after that scan! So whether I did actually ovulate then or it didn't happen and my body finally realised it wasn't going to happen and jettisoned my lining... I also had bloods taken over the two weeks following the ectopic and my hormones were diving so quickly I wasn't surprised that the impact on my cycle was massive.

I've had three cycles since the miscarriage and whilst, like you, I had pretty obedient ones before the miscarriage I've had slightly more erratic ones since. Obv first cycle was really long, then a normal length cycle where I didn't appear to ovulate according to sticks, third one was very short with only one day of positive peak OPK and it only lasted just 16 days.

It's blooming frustrating if/when you're eager to get back to TTC but I think you just have to put some faith in your body's ability to get itself back on track. Frustratingly it won't give you a timeline for that.

You can release two or more eggs in a cycle, from either or both ovaries, but only within the same 24 hour period, as part of the same lh surge/temps.
You can't ovulate on two very separate occasions, with two luteal phases without having a period in between. Just not physically possible I'm afraid.

What might have happened is that your body tried to ovulate, hence the EWCM, but didn't, so went for another try. They don't call the cycle after a MC a WTF cycle for nothing. Sorry you are going throught this though xx.

Thank you all for your advice, its just so bloody frustrating not knowing whats going on, although I am lucky that usually my cycles are really regular.

i'm going to (try) and relax a bit and just wait for my period to come back, then start going OPKs once I have my cycles back on track. No point getting worked up if my body is still over the place!

Sending baby dust to all :) xxx

I had multiple ovulation this month. Confirmed by ultrasound. Really scared, I'm not sure I'm ready for two babies at once.
