Day 54 of cycle testing negative

Ok trying to include all relevant info... Came off pill beginning of April, had a withdrawal bleed then a proper period starting 15 May which was about a 35 day cycle. Since then, no period, am on day 54. Have been testing every few days since day 35 when I thought AF might be due based on previous cycle. I have no idea if or when I ovulated - I was testing but went on hols and forgot to take sticks.

The last date we had sex was 24 June. I started spotting on 28 June, assumed it was period but it started off brown, then changed to just a few red streaks in the mucus. It was just on the tissue when I wiped, not enough to show in pants. That stopped 4th July, am still testing negative.

The other thing is that my main symptom prior to testing with my first child was sore boobs which I do seem to have.

So my questions are: a) when might I test positive if I conceived on 24 June? b) at what date will a negative test mean it def hasn't happened this time??

Thanks in advance for your safe advice, I'm driving myself mad trying to second guess what's going on!

Try your doc although they will probably say something really irritating about how long periods take to settle down after coming off contraception and bat you away. There do seem to be people on here who don't get BFPs until much later in the pregnancy though. It's all so horrifying isn't it. Sending empathy!

Sorry but you may not have ovulated. Irregular periods, spotting and skipping ovulation happen to lots of people when they come off hormonal meds.

I have to agree with the previous poster. Quite possibly you have not ovulated. Last month my cycle was 70 days! I was so hopeful for a BFP until day 45 when I still hadn't got my BFP. Then I accepted that my period wasn't coming but I wasn't pregnant. I'd say if you don't get it by the end of next week then it wasn't your month. Then comes the waiting game for AF. A very depressing and frustrating 25 days for me.

Thanks, I guess I knew all this really but it sort of helps to know there are other people in the same boat! The not knowing if / when I ovulated is the frustrating thing - means it drags out the waiting game, not knowing even when AF is due! But if no positive test by about Weds I know for definite nowt has happened. The spotting really threw me, I have never had that before, either when pregnant or when coming off pill before. I know going to docs won't achieve much but it might be worth flagging this up early in case the wait turns into months or years. Best wishes to everyone in a similar position!
