Hi Lucyloos

I thought the same as you, internet cheapies seemed to be working fine! The difference with cbdm is you get 2 stages- high fertility & peak fertility.
High fertility measures the increase in estrogen which shows an egg is about to be released- I had 4 or 5 days high fertility so you can dtd through that.

Then I had a peak fertility day. The issue was, I was also charting and according to my temps the peak fertility day was the day after I ovulated (my temp had spiked that morning) so basically I ovulated overnight- the peak fertility on the cbdm was because the urine had been in my bladder all night so still had LH.

Internet cheapies only pick up the LH surge so cbdm gives you those lovely days before too- and as sperm can live 3 days anyway they're super important .

That sounds very complex but if I have been having very short LH surges like I did this month, internet cheapies could well have been giving me a positive too late for me to be able to get pregnant.

kurama seems like a strange answer. I think you're right to request a telephone appointment with a dr you're comfortable with. You need to know why AF is so delayed if bloods did show 0 hcg anyway. Has AF gone AWOL before? When I had huge flare I didn't have AF for a while but because we weren't even thinking about ttc the drs didn't bother to investigate but there could be a really simple explanation & solution.I'm so sorry you're no nearer to getting an answer.

Aprilray · 01/08/2014 12:56

Ooh, you reminded me about eating pineapple after ov Serenity going to pop out and get some at lunchtime.

GrandHighWitch eek, very exciting! FX for a stronger line in the morning.

I am so tired, DH didn't get home until nearly midnight and we DTD! Was CD 19 and pretty sure I oved earlier in the week but you never know.... DH had me propped up with pillows afterwards legs in the air bless him.

Shetland · 01/08/2014 12:58

congratulations serenity ( told you watery cm was a good sign!)

Fingers crossed for you thegrand - sounds very promising.

Nice to have some good news on the first day of the month - hopefully a sign that this will be a good month for BFPs :)

I agree with serenity about the CBFM btw - much better than cheapies. And as there is a shiny new version out recently, the old style one (which does the same thing but without a touch screen) are going pretty cheap on eBay these days...

lucieloos · 01/08/2014 13:41

If I am DTD every other day up until I get a positive opk I would be covered for the cbfm high peaks anyway though? Sorry for so many questions I'm just trying to work out whether it's worth splashing out on the cbfm or if I would have those bases covered anyway?

Serenitysutton · 01/08/2014 14:01

We did it every other day too (followed the sperm meets egg plan) but did it every day of high fertility. It made me
Feel more confident I was doing everything i could (and fell pregnant 1st month using it!)

Bluebird89 · 01/08/2014 14:03

Congratulations serenity fantastic news

lucieloos · 01/08/2014 14:04

Ok great thanks serenity! It's definitely something I will consider if we don't have any luck over the next month or two. Just started doing sperm meets egg last month and hoping to give it another good go this month Smile

Serenitysutton · 01/08/2014 14:10

Thanks so much all. Wishing the August bus all the best BFP vibes!

Siarie · 01/08/2014 14:16

Serenity Thanks for letting us know, it's really great to hear methods that have worked for others. Me and DH DTD every other day last cycle (number 1) but my bean didn't stick (crap cycle just came off BC), however I want to change it slightly this cycle and try your sperm meets egg method I think.

DH kind of suggested it but I didn't know it was an actual method! Hmm IC OPK make it a bit harder to guess high fertility, I don't real want to invest in a clear blue if I can help it. Do you think I should try and use my CM as a marker? Is it too late once I get a positive IC OPK?

I don't know why but I'm feeling a bit meh today, not used to all these hormones!

Siarie · 01/08/2014 14:18

Oh I'll add that I have short surges, I only got like two +OPK's last cycle (testing daily) so it was quite lucky were were DTD every other day lol!

TheGrandHighWitch · 01/08/2014 16:09

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you all with the pic as I was out longer than I expected today. Here is the best pic I can get of it (my phone is easier to see it on as I can zoom in lol). I am not sure of how many dpo I am as fertility friend can't seem to figure out when I ovulated but I am guessing 13 from a positive opk and peak readings on my monitor. I have another FRER for tomorrow morning and got a couple of cheapies from home bargains. One pack is a 15miu one, the other 25 miu so can hopefully use those to back up my results in a couple of days.

Re the cbfm, I have found mine worthwhile but then I don't dtd every other day I tend to just put in an effort around ovulation. The monitors can be picked up fairly cheaply second hand from ebay for around £40 for the original one. The test sticks on the other hand can prove costly. At £20+ for a pack of 20 sticks and you use up to 20 on the first cycle and then up to/around 10 for subsequent cycles once it 'gets to know you'. If you are an every other day kind of couple then there is probably not a lot of point as you should be covered by the time ovulation occurs anyway.

cinnamongreyhound · 01/08/2014 16:44

Sorry TheGrandHighWitch, I can't see a line :( fx for a stronger one tomorrow!

Phryn · 01/08/2014 16:49

Same here grandhighwitch - sorry that I can't see a line and hoping it gets stronger soon.

Thanks cinnamon for the encouragement - no cramping today so just waiting and seeing. No AF either so might have been implantation rather than AF's calling card of doom.

TheGrandHighWitch · 01/08/2014 16:54

It's ok cinnamongreyhound and Phryn. From the voting going on, I do seem to be the only one who can see it lol. I guess because I could see it in person (assuming I am not cracking up) then I knew where I was looking on the picture iyswim.

jdear · 01/08/2014 16:58

Hi all! Need to read back and catch up, on my phone so cant at the min.

grandhighwitch i think i see an absolute squinter of a line...also if you invert it i can see something!

Congratulations serenity so happy for you!

14dpo here and think im ovulating. Just suprised dh with some nice underwear (for me not him!) and currently lying here with my legs in the air....tmi?! Ha

lindamagoo · 01/08/2014 17:16

grandhighwitch I think I see the line so I've voted yes Smile

TheGrandHighWitch · 01/08/2014 17:25

Thanks jdear and lindamagoo. It is nice to see that I don't seem to be the only one Grin. It is tricky to see i'll admit, I find it a bit easier with the screen of my laptop tilted back a bit. Hopefully I will get a better line soon.

Nicely done on the dtd action jdear. Here's hoping it was a perfectly timed session for you.

jdear · 01/08/2014 17:31

fx it gets darker grandhigh! The more i look the more i can see it!

Katybear123 · 01/08/2014 17:39

Hi all, so pleased I joined u some really interesting stuff on here esp re cbfm wear going to do 1 more cycle ever other day and if it doesn't work then I'm buying one. Hubbie reckons it might make me more obsessed and I guess it might but not knowing is horrid to. Just want to get crazy bing this month but af has decided to hang around for an extra day so day 6 and still af, grrrrrr! Anyone else have this and a 25 day cycle?

JaneyTea · 01/08/2014 17:41

Smile am back from my week away, cup of tea in hand, ready to read back and catch up.....

kurama · 01/08/2014 17:50

well i phones doc after i finished work.... she confirmed that the test was neg as it was only around 2mlu or whatever it is, but she then said that hormones indicated that i was or just about to ovulate.......WTAF?! she sounded just as confused as i feel.
that means what i thought was implantation spotting as the weirdest period ever..... tried to get dh to dtd today as a last chance and hes too tired.... come to think about it i did have some stabby pains on left side a couple of days ago. crap! lol
cpt i guess the receptionist was trying to be nice about the neg result? lol im suprised im not bothered about the result, guess im happy that ive still ovd even without the clomid this month.
grandhigh sorry but i cant see a line but then again i am half asleep at mo.

If i catch on this month it will be a miracle as we only dtd twice over ov time.

MrsExtraOrdinary · 01/08/2014 18:04

Cpt yes I'm ok today thankyou. Just got home and 6 have children distributed to their other parents. Just me dh and little woo for a week. What are we going to do with ourselves?!?Confused

If af hasn't materialised ill test again Int morning. Haven't tested today. But my guess is it will probably be here v soon. Sad hey ho! I'm going to enjoy my quiet week and not let a bfn spoil it! Smile

ChandlersFarang · 01/08/2014 18:06

Wow Kurama that's nuts! Have they told you all the hormone levels so you can look them up yourself? That's the kind of thing I do these days because I love the science of it! Then you're not trusting one person's interpretation either (although if they are a doctor they score extra points there, lol).

GrandHigh I'm rooting for a stronger line tomorrow, GOOD LUCK!! Grin

So am turning 6DPO overnight and some symptom spotting has begun in ChandlersVille... It's a weird one this time because I'm taking extra hormones (estrogen and progesterone). I didn't get the same post-ov symptoms this time round, possibly as a result (SYMPTOM?!Wink). This could also be a result of my ear starting to feel better, so have more time on my hands for other parts of the body again... Cracking distraction that was! Although the intense and gruelling pain was a bit unnecessary. I wouldn't recommend it! Grin

ChandlersFarang · 01/08/2014 18:10

Oh - Serenity - I LOVED your stats and all your scientific additions! Absolutely top TTC tekkers!! Thanks for noting them down. Super pleased for you.

April - good work staying up late for some action!! You never know, you might just have caught it!! Grin

xBlue, how are you doing? 6DPO tomorrow, defo time to start symptom spotting with me!! WinkGrin
