Hi all, after 52 waiting after coming off the pill I have finally got my first period after my breakthrough bleed. I have had bleeding for 3 days now but it is so light it's barely there. I keep putting in a tampon and whilst I get trances of blood on it so af is there, it's almost not worth bothering. Anyone else had similar? And is this normal?

Hi Katybear.

Do you mean 52 days? Can I ask which pill you were on and how long for?

Your body is trying to figure out what it should be doing. A lot of women report it taking a little while for their periods to come back after being on the pill. Some don't have a period for many months, while others have longer than usual waits for one to turn up. It usually depends how long you were on it for. Just to be really gross (sorry!) is the blood red? Brown usually signifies old blood, pink is very light period (sometimes not at all) but red signifies an actual bleed, or period. The good news is your body sounds like it's on its way to figuring things out :)

I had a very light two day bleed about 5 weeks after stopping the pill. So I wouldn't say it's anything worry about. They were quite light thereafter but have got a little heavier since.
