What to expect with the Mirena coil removal?

So, having my Mirena took out this week as me and my partner are going to start trying for our second child.

I just want to know what to expect. Is it quick, painless, easy? Do you bleed afterwards?

I read somewhere it can mess with your hormones and you can have a hormonal meltdown a few days afterwards. Really worried about this as I'm stressed out enough as it is due to moving house and other things at the moment.

I had a copper coil and removal was straightforward. I found the procedure easier on me than putting it in, in the first place - probably because I worried more when putting it in. I didn't bleed and didn't feel pain as such, just a bit of an unpleasant feeling really. I've been recommended to take paracetamol in advance, just in case, so maybe that had some effect, but I have no recollection of any problems at all.

Hope it goes well for you too Thanks

Mine was awkward as the strings had retracted so the doc left me in position so to speak whilst she called a nurse to fetch the string retrieversBlush.
The actual removal though was quick easy and painless. I can't remember any hormonal issues afterwards either.

My mirena removal was also ok - bit that painful and felt good afterwards! If anything I've been far less hormonal and moody with it out. I didn't get any bleeding either. Good luck Smile
