Stay foscar, we want every last detail - don't think you're getting away from us Wink

JaneyTea · 02/07/2014 13:08

FoscarC - buying books on the subject is my default response to not knowing what to do - I have so many on standby in my Amazon wishlist for if/when I get a BFP. I'm sorry that the nurse wasn't helpful, hopefully next time they'll be more reassuring next time. I suspect the panic about knowing nothing is natural.

FoscarC · 02/07/2014 13:17

The nurse was very kind and lovely, but I suppose I was expecting her to tell me stuff and ask me questions, but she just referred me onto the midwife. At least I get to see her quickly.

I am fine really, in fact I am great. I have a BFP!! I shouldn't be complaining. I think it is all the hormones. I will be OK once I have my book I am sure. It is the fear of the unknown. And seeing my sister last night did not help. I have to push one of those out of my foof!!! I am thinking that the first 12 weeks must be hard, read somewhere that one in 5 miscarry in the first 12 weeks and i keep thinking of that now. It will be easier in 7 weeks time, and I can tell people. But I am happy and staying positive!!

MrsExtraOrdinary · 02/07/2014 13:38

Ahhh thanks ladies! Alas I've just had some bloodstained cm so I think af will follow shortly. Considering I've been quite poorly this month I'm not too worried and would probably have worried more if I had got a bfp.

Month 7 here I come!

TheGrandHighWitch · 02/07/2014 13:38

FoscarC I know it's hard not to worry at this stage. You worry about hcg levels doubling, then making it to the ultrasound to ensure all's well. Then the next ultrasound, movement etc etc. So although it seems to be slow at the moment, you may find yourself rushing through your pregnancy in a way as you aim for all these milestones. All perfectly natural of course but do try to enjoy being pregnant if you can. Look after yourself and let others look after you too. The more you worry and stress, the more likely you will have problems for example with blood pressure. For the nurse thing, try no to worry that she hasn't told you much. Remember she won't be dealing much with pregnant women and babies as her knowledge is much more generalised. The midwife should be much more helpful and if not, you have the right to change to one at another surgery or the community midwife if you prefer. And finally, of course you should stay but only if you want to Smile.

12dpo here and bfn on an ic but thought I could see the faintest shadow of a shadow of a line. Going to re-test in half hour or so and do todays opk as well. Symptom wise, I have sore boobs around the nipples and a little nausea this morning. Had dizzy spells the last couple of days too which was really odd. Lasted only around a second or two but really disorienting. Actually managed to sleep the whole night without waking up (thanks to dosing up on co-codamol before bed) and my temp rose slighty again so thats a good sign I think.

Good luck to those testing in the next few days and thanks to Aprilray for the updated stats. Hopefully you have either had your 'peak' or it comes very soon.

Foscar, the first appt with the nurse/doctor is always a bit of an anticlimax! Mine just said "here's a form to get your scan appointment, make a booking in appt with the midwife at the front desk, take folic acid." That was pretty much it haha. 2 mins in and out!

FoscarC · 02/07/2014 14:23

Thanks girls. That is good to know. I am calm ish I think. Just want to start doing things. It is frustrating as I want to get baby things and start rubbing my tummy and wearing big maternity tents, but really I can't yet as it is still to early. Although I do already rub my tummy and talk to my 'nub'.

grandhigh, faint line!!!!! this is too exciting!!!! let us know as soon as you re test. and fx to you!!

TheGrandHighWitch · 02/07/2014 14:43

I know it can be very frustrating when all you want is to get to all the good bits lol. Enjoy the journey though (you may as well since you have to go through it anyway Grin) and I would also recommend making as many memories of your pregnancy as possible so photo's of positive hpt's (or the real ones if you don't mind them hanging around), when you hear baby's heartbeat you could record it on your phone to listen back to when you want. Make notes as to what the kicks/movements feel like. All things you can look back on when you've got your little one and you want to remember the early days. Would also recommend photocopying your orange notes and scan photo's as the photo's fade and they take the notes away when you are discharged from the midwife when baby is about 2 weeks old.

I'll be re-testing tomorrow morning. Have some more IC's to use until I get an answer either way. Last month I had a luteal phase of 11 days due to later ovulation so am hopeful as I have gone past that so far (unless af arrives later).

xBlueberry88x · 02/07/2014 15:11

Foscar You are so incredibly lucky to have got your bfp so quickly.
Please enjoy every moment (I love grands ideas) and try not to worry to much.
Im still waiting for a bfp after 15 months and as soon as I manage to get pg I am going to make every second count.

hanflan · 02/07/2014 15:13

Foscar I second Grand's idea. I am keeping a pregnancy journal (in a pretty Paperchase notebook I bought) and I am writing everything in, week by week, along with bump shots, pics of my bfps, and it'll end up being like a scrapbook of my pregnancy! It'll be so cute to look back on :)

laurano81 · 02/07/2014 15:34

Hi Ladies! I must read back through the thread! I went to bed early last night with a migraine! A little too much sun, & I had fierce cheese cravings yesterday, so too much of that as well! Home early today! No extra curricular activities for me, due to my back being sore!

I just did an OPK! I was kinda freaking myself out worrying about ovulation! when will I learnThis TTC does take it's toll on me sometimes! Hmm Anyway POAS porn alert Grin, even if it is only an OPK! One I did today CD16 & then a pic of the ones I did CD14 & 15, with todays one..I will do another one later, to see if it gets stronger x

notoasthere · 02/07/2014 15:45

Afternoon ladies!

Welcome to the new faces!

grand will be interested to see what tomorrow's test says - and please take a pic if you see a hint of a line!

foscar you have LOTS of time to learn all you need to know. The mumsnet guide to pregnancy is a more entertaining read than wtewye - might be worth getting too

My breastfeeding group went well - 7 mums came which isn't bad for the first time!

Told two of my mum chums today - there is no way I'm going to get through 8 weeks of ms without someone on side to help cover it up!

FoscarC · 02/07/2014 16:03

Thanks everyone. I am so so excited and very very happy. I don't want you to think I'm not. And I know just how lucky I am. I have an ap on my phone that records all these things and I take weekly photos of my tummy and things. Nothing to show so far but will have soon!

The baby book idea is great. I will definitely make sure I keep all these records and so on. Thank you all as always.xx

FoscarC · 02/07/2014 16:05

Oh, and I still have my BFP stick and a photo of it. I like looking at it!

hanflan · 02/07/2014 16:08

I still have my sticks too. It's disgusting really, the test window has gone all yellow now. Vom! Really should chuck them away but can't bring myself to do it haha.

Aprilray · 02/07/2014 16:22

Ooh, the line is getting darker Laurano, looks like ovulation is approaching for you Smile

I have been keeping a 'trying to conceive' journal - will be able to share the lengths I went to to conceive with my DC in the future hopefully (heavily edited though, they won't want to know about all the DTD!).
FX we will all be able to start pregnancy journals soon.

Glad your group went well notoast

cinnamongreyhound · 02/07/2014 16:33

It always takes me forever going backwards and forwards responding to things from my phone so m taking it serious today and reading on the laptop and writing on my phone Wink

We went for every other day MaMaPo but are usually around 3x a week without effort anyway. I think some people can test from 12dpo but others later. I'm not using opk's or temping.

I'm trying not to be too optimistic Cpt1sock without a bfp! Glad you're feeling better.

Very early nordicmom, sit on your hands until the weekend Wink and BrixtonBunny, stay positive.

I'm 16 or 17dpo FoscarC, I'm going by ovulation pain which was Sunday afternoon to Monday afternoon ish (15+16th June). I'm impressed they did a pregnancy test, mine haven't either time! A little tip, no one knows what they're doing! While everyone at my antenatal classes where worrying about labour I was worrying about the first few weeks in pain with a new baby I had no idea about, I'm very practical. I agree some stuff is intuitive but I found lots wasn't and was trial and error, still learning with ds2 and probably will with this one when/if it comes along! I had your pregnancy week by week by dr Curtis and Judith schuler which was good for me. For me the first 12 weeks is truly the shittest part of pregnancy, I was very sick and couldn't tell anyone and stressed the while time I'd lose my baby, so I think it's totally natural.

Hi roastpots!

Is there anything specific making you think that Rainbow555?

I am in one with other sept 10 mn mums spinningirl10, we'd been in the thread a while before starting it but I'm happy too.

That's what makes me think af isn't on it's way MrsExtraOrdinary, I DONT have the rage! Hope your rage and tears disappear soon :) sorry it looks like af is here though.

Sounds positive Aprilray with your timings.

Sounds good TheGrandHighWitch! Fx

I can only see the first photo laurano81, and I have no idea about opk's anyway but good luck!

So I still feel in limbo! I have no af symptoms, had a few waves if nausea, lasting 30min-1hr, boobs slightly sore and cramps with creamy discharge but still bfn. Dh has decided I am pg but I'm trying not to be too hopeful! Hoping for some more bfp's tomorrow from those testing :)

Cpt1sock · 02/07/2014 16:38

Hi everyone,

Thank you for book advice, I'm going to buy one next week when AF/bfn arrives for definite ( that's me being positive). Sorry I'm going to be really quick will come back later but the man who viewed house last night is coming back at 5:30 for 2nd viewing and also a lady coming along at 5 for 1st viewing so any positive vibes, crossed fingers and any sort of good luck this way much appreciated!

Cpt1sock · 02/07/2014 16:38

cinnamongreyhound · 02/07/2014 16:40

Fantastic news Cpt1sock,lots and lots of luck coming from me!!!!

broodylicious · 02/07/2014 16:44

hi all [waves], please can I jump on board this bus? I'm ttc #2 after a mc at 12 weeks on Feb 27. Not yet dtd since I fell pg at Christmas but July is going to be the month it all happens.

JaneyTea · 02/07/2014 16:46

Bah! I've just spotted an advert for a job that is almost identical to what I do now, but significantly more pay. But, if I got it, it would ruin my entitlement to mat pay any time soon. We've already put off TTC for seven months so that I would qualify for mat pay where I am now, feels risky to put it off again. ARGH! Oh, to be male.....

MrsExtraOrdinary · 02/07/2014 16:51

Hello broody! So sorry to hear of your recent mc. Let's hope you have a sticky bean this time around :-)

notoasthere · 02/07/2014 16:51

welcome aboard broody

notoasthere · 02/07/2014 16:58

And yes to the fb group....do we just stay here till the end of the month then start a new antenatal thread? Last pregnancy I used a different forum so not sure on what the etiquette is!
