Hi all I'm TTC at the moment my last normal af was 16th April then on 16th may I had one day of bleeding very light barely enough for one towel sorry tmi and no cramp which is not me at all. So I thought ok maybe that was implant bleeding so did a test got very very faint BFP like had to squint to see it and then same the next day on the third day thee was nothing. I expected to start bleeding but didn't I have had one other very very faint positive from then until now , did a clearblue digital on fri and was bfn but I'm now 15 days overdue period. However for about 10 days I have had a dull pain at my ovary area on the right hand side which in the last 2 days has gotten much worse and is now really very sore as is my hip and back on one side only . Could this be an ectopic ?

Hi Lilypie. It sounds possible to me. Perhaps you should call NHS Direct to ask advice, or just pop straight into A&E. Don't hang around, just in case it is. Good luck and let us know how you get on x

Blueuggboots · 29/06/2014 14:25

Don't bother with 111, they are SHIT.
Just go to your local A&E. 111 will only call you an ambulance anyway.
Hope you're ok.

lilypie13 · 29/06/2014 15:14

Thank you ladies, just goi g to go for a warm bath waiting on hubby coming back and will head up to a&e

If you get pain in your shoulder tip (shoulder blade or where your arm meets your shoulder) please make you way to a&e straight away. This can be an indication of internal bleeding.
Sorry - don't want to scare you, but it's important to know danger signs.

lilypie13 · 29/06/2014 17:42

I did have a pain at the back of my shoulder on the sore side last week but it was short lived and never returned x

Please do get checked out. It does sound possibly ectopic, but definitely needs further investigation.

FeatherFeather11 · 29/06/2014 18:39

Agree with other posters lily. I would head to A&E. If it is an ectopic, then you need to know ASAP. If the lines are light and not getting stronger, it may mean that if it is ectopic and your hcg levels are going down, rather than up, then you may not need treatment - they'll do what is called "active monitoring"

Really hope it's not and that it's just a painful cyst or something instead. Let us know how you get on.

lilypie13 · 29/06/2014 22:39

So I called nhs24 who we just advising to self monitor as I don't have a temperature so I insisted on an out if hours appt the doctor called me back and was saying that of ectopic the pain would be unbearable and I would not be able to stand anyway I explained that I was worried and reluctantly he gave me an appt. so when I arrived I could tell he already had made up his mind that I was fine he did not feel my stomach he did not do a urine or blood pregnancy test and basically talked me out of the room saying it could be mittlesmitz - sp? I explained that I am on cycle day 45 so I would think that's not correct as I have not had a period yet ? Anyway I'm home now still in pain and feeling like an idiot !

I totally felt like he was making out I am a neurotic symptom spotting TTC maniac ! But the pain is def real and I have not experienced anything like it since I first started af 20 years ago

Is there no A&E local to you? They'd be more likely to take blood and do scans, surely? Maybe see how you go overnight and head to your local epu in the morning? My ectopic, in November last year, did not cause pain. I woke up bleeding and went to the epu thinking I was having a miscarriage - the did bloods and a scan and found it was in my left tube.

Don't mean to scare you - he's right, most of the time you'd be doubled over in pain, but quiet ones can happen. Hope it's not either for you though.

CuriosityCola · 29/06/2014 22:58

What a load of rubbish. The whole point of getting checked out is to ensure you don't reach the stage of not being able to stand. I had an ectopic and wasn't sure if it was cystitis or something.

I feel really angry on your behalf. I can't understand why he didn't test your hgc levels.

Not sure if it's an option for you, but when I was in a similar situation I booked myself in for a private check/ scan. Then the doctor referred me to epu for monitoring.

beanandspud · 29/06/2014 23:00

Please go to A&E. I don't want to scare you but it sounds very similar to my ectopic pregnancy that was dismissed by the hospital and subsequently ruptured.

Let them know that you suspect an EP. It may be nothing at all but much better to be sent home feeling a little foolish.

lilypie13 · 29/06/2014 23:02

I think it's mostly because i had a neg preg test on friday although he did not say that to me but i did have very faint positives x 2 early on but I would have expected to start bleeding by now. If the pain is still there and not eased up tomorrow I will just go to a&e I just felt a bit if a fraud because I am not doubled over in pain but the pain is really grating on me

Definitely get to your early pregnancy unit in the morning or go to the hospital. I've had 2 ectopic pregnancies and wasn't doubled over with either of them. I hope it's not ectopic, but it could be.

FeatherFeather11 · 29/06/2014 23:14

You are better off going to the epu rather than A&E if you plan to go in the morning, lily.

CuriosityCola · 30/06/2014 06:26

The early pregnancy unit would always rather see someone and it be nothing, than it be something serious. Let them decide.

Rachie1986 · 30/06/2014 07:31

Hope everything is ok - keep us posted xx

Petal7 · 30/06/2014 07:34

I had 2 ectooics and never had doubling over kind of pain with either of them. Your early pregnancy unit is your best bet as they can do quantitive hcg and take it from there. Hope it goes ok.

ladyflower23 · 30/06/2014 07:54

Yes go to EPU today. That doc sounds like an idiot and negligent not to check you out properly when you have legitimate concerns. I am sure the EPU will check you out properly if only to put your mind at rest. Don't feel stupid or neurotic, it's more foolish to ignore symptoms of something that is potentially serious. Hope all goes well today x

Blueuggboots · 30/06/2014 12:58

That dr is clearly a prize twat. AngryAngryAngry
Makes my blood boil!
If you're doubled over in pain I would be exceptionally concerned. I am a HCP and see a few of these each year. I would NEVER dismiss it and always take a woman to a Gynae ward to be checked over.

FeatherFeather11 · 30/06/2014 20:10

Hope you're ok lily. Do update us on how you are. You've been in my thoughts today. Flowers

lilypie13 · 30/06/2014 21:19

Hi everyone sorry been a crazy day at work today, pain still pretty bad I have an appt with my own doc at 9am tomz so I will see what he says at least he knows what's normal for me not like that other out of hours doc who was horrible ! I have decided if its still no better by Thursday then I will call the epu as preg tests are still neg and doc telling me that the test would be positive if ectopic - oh I don't even know anymore totally fed up Confused

Rachie1986 · 03/07/2014 17:13

How are you getting on?

lilypie13 · 03/07/2014 18:56

Hi everyone , finally got an ectopic pregnancy ruled out and I started bleeding yet at day 58 ! Absolutely shattered . Doc reckons that I have a possible cyst at right hand side along with a trapped nerve in my back as my leg went numb too Confused

So I was back at my doctor today and she made a plan as we have been TTC since August. I'm having blood tests done at day 20 of my cycle and ages going to check for hormones etc, she has referred me for a scan of my ovaries to check for cysts. She's us going to do a smear for me and refer me to the fertility clinic Smile so a complete overhaul will be done so at least I will know what's going on x thank you to everyone for your concern and words of wisdom xx
