Hair shedding

I stopped taking the pill 3 months ago and last few days have started shedding lots of hair!! Haven't really noticed a dramatic increase when brushing, but hairs keep randomly popping out of my head all day long. Hoping it's not enough to go bald, but does seem more than the 'normal' 50-100 hairs a day. I am assuming this is from stopping pill (or maybe stress of TTC) and was wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

Are your periods regular? Hair loss is a symptom of PCOS which could have been masked by the pill.
Oddly enough it was hair loss that led to my diagnosis. Don't want to worry you but I spent years being told it was nothing to worry about and just anaemia...Took a lot of pushing and detective work on my part to tell the doc I had self diagnosed and demanded a scan. Just thinking if I could prevent someone else going through that I would, but if your periods are regular just ignore my thoughts!

Hi LAM1, thanks for your reply. When I was younger I did have long and irregular cycles, but went on the pill for years, so then had no idea. Came off few years ago to try for baby and had one cycle of 31 days then got pregnant. This time have had 3 cycles between 30 and 33 days, so still fairly regular and normal. I guess this would mean not unless it's just left over pill regulating me and I will go haywire further down the track! I will keep an eye on things and get to the doc if so. Hope you are getting some help with your PCOS now to get you up the duff!

Same as me, real irregular cycles pre pill. Clock work on pill and nothing since I came off last summer. Well the PCOS diagnosis has bought the TTC to conceive forward a bit...No point hanging around now we know there are issues. Plus once I finally got the diagnosis the doc pushed me down the fertility route, otherwise when we wanted to start we'd have to go back to square 1 on tests, waiting etc.
The other thing for you to consider is anaemia or thyroid....they were the first things I was tested for. But I wouldn't stress yet, it could just be on a one off. Keep an eye on it and if it continues go get some blood tests...Fingers crossed they wont be needed!
