Keeping positive- period parties

Hello,

I read a kindle book called 'Trying to conceive...' and the author mentioned period parties (or something like that). I'm sure a lot of you would have heard of them too but it's basically doing something you couldn't do if you were pregnant when your period arrives.

I'm now cd2 of cycle 3 so have had a large amount of brie and parma ham washed down with a lovely gin and tonic :) Strangely it's cheered me up a bit.

Does anyone else do something like that too?

Absolutely. Mine is a little less sensible: I allow myself a couple of crafty cigarettes when AF arrives...

Sarahg1 · 24/06/2014 05:39

Hahaha yes when my last AF arrived I did a little binge on unhealthy stuff and wine. I ovulated this weekend and had a 3 day long row with DR which led to zero chance of dtd.. so I had a massive cry and a boozy day in the sun. But from now on these little events are defo being christened The Period Party, what an amazing name for something so shitty!!!!

Sarahg1 · 24/06/2014 05:39

DP I meant. gaah predictive text...

Teakind · 24/06/2014 19:55

Glad other people do it too!

Student at least it cheers you up a bit (good for the mind and all that)
Sarah ah sorry to hear that. I think your DP owes you a nice bottle of something to make up for it :)

I actually think it helped a little bit in the tww to think about 'treats'. Next up on my list is a bottle of prosecco.

Teakind there is absolutely NO chance of any treats from DP I'm afraid!! but Prosecco sounds like an absolute dream right now!

The plus side of being out of the game this month is I just collected my wedding dress and it's TIGHT so have embarked on a very low cal diet (lighterlife) for 3 weeks until the big day... was being uber sensible and healthy during the past 3 TWWs but now sod it. But that does mean no prosecco, and had thought I'd make up for it on honeymoon but that'll be my next TWW (literally the entire honeymoon, AF due on the day we leave. What are the frickin chances??)

Seriously men have no idea how easy this is for them. Rock up, dtd and carry on with life...

I am definitely going to try having a cheeky glass of wine or two when my period comes! Ttc after a mmc 10 weeks ago. Back to symptom searching and disappointment so going to give this a go to raise my mood...thanks ladies! Grin

MistressKatherine · 26/06/2014 21:06

Loving this idea Teakind! You've cheered me up.

Mine annoyingly arrived this morning. So tonight I am having my first period party with a beer and by breaking into some chocolate liqueurs I had to hide at the back of the cupboard after my lovely husband brought them back from his trip abroad.

Only one problem. I now feel sick. :)

Teakind · 27/06/2014 12:02

sarah good luck with the wedding! I relied on slimming world to get me in to my dress. It worked but I've put it all back on now! I'm sure a couple of drinks on your honeymoon would be ok? Where are you off to?

granny sorry to hear about the mmc. I hope this does cheer you up a bit. What are your party treats of choice?

mistress ohhh I love a nice cold beer! I tried a non alcoholic beer last cycle when I got my hopes up in the tww but it tasted like tuna?!

I finally got AF today on day 37!!!!!

six irritating and teasing days late I am so happy after getting bfn's I'm glad to "reset" to start again in cycle 5...or is it 6 already!?

period party ahead tonight: spicy chicken livers, whisky and coke (can't buy beer or wine in this country due to ramadaan) And a large snickers bar. Grin Grin Grin

Sarahg1 · 03/07/2014 15:17

Spicy chicken livers... are you sure that's not a pregnancy craving?! Hmm

Enjoy... next month will bring BFPs for us all hopefully!!!

NewLeafExpat · 03/07/2014 16:22

haha Sarah no just a love for nandos style chicken livers but I know livers are too high in vit A to eat while pregnant I guess not being allowed increases the craving right.

good luck to all for their next cycle.. I'm going to continue my party tomorrow with sushi and chocolate.... Grin

I have also had a few sneaky cigarettes when AF arrives, although not this time. now on to cycle 3. 3rd time lucky!

Loved this thread when I first saw it so bumping it to the top Smile
I am getting AF symptoms - torn between trying to think positive (could be early pregnancy symptoms) and preparing myself for her arrival.
If she does arrive I am going to hit the supermarket and buy a really expensive bottle of red wine, some brie and stilton and have me a little cheese and wine period party.
