Is it worth getting a CBFM?

I'm hopefully going to start clomid next month and was wondering if it is worth getting the CBFM?

I concieved once before with clomid (I don't ovulate without it) but it did take 8 months and I was on my last cycle when I got pg.

I have been told I won't be offered as many cycles this time so want to give myself the best chance possible during the cycles of clomid.

So is it worth me getting one, does the clomid affect the results? I'm looking at 2nd hand ones on eBay, would buying 2nd hand be ok?

How many sticks should I buy to start with? Also which sticks go with it as there seems to be hundreds of different ones on eBay?

Thanks

No it probably wont be worth it if you are on clomid at all. I don't have my instruction booklet any more but it does rely on you having regular cycles.

Hiya, I conceived both of my dc on clomid, one without the monitor (took one cycle on clomid), the other took 6 months and I conceived in the first month I used my monitor. I am just onto my second cycle ttc#3 using the monitor again now. I would recommend it in terms of establishing when you ovulate (although expect a lot of high readings due to the clomid boosting your estrogen levels). I would suggest you allocate a box of tests (20 per pack) per cycle. It will ask for ten test sticks and if you don't get a 'peak' reading in that time, it will ask for ten more regardless of if the peak occurs on the 11th test or the 19th. If you are getting the original monitor (not advanced one) then use these sticks here. If the advanced then these ones. Hope that helps.

Kit - I know it doesn't work without a proper cycle which is why I've not used one yet, but when I go onto the clomid I will have cycles, if that makes sense Smile

Thegrandhighwitch - thank you that's really helpful, I will aim to get one then! Good luck with your 2nd cycle Smile

Just won one on eBay for a great price Smile

Now going to order some sticks and I'm all set for when I start the clomid!

Thank you Weethree and congrats on your bargain monitor. I was extremely lucky with mine that I spotted it at Tesco one month reduced to £20 (from the £100 at the time selling price everywhere else) and the test sticks were also reduced to £5 (from £25) so I got a couple of boxes and as I said upthread it just took the one cycle on it before I got my BFP. Out of interest, when have you been advised to take clomid from? With mine I was advised to take it from days 2-6 of my cycle and that is what I have done again this time (with a pack that is a year out of date but never mind lol). But I have read that usually women take it a bit later in their cycle so was just wondering really.

That is a major bargain, well done!
Hope I find some sticks at a bargain price too Smile

I haven't actually been told when I will be taking it this time as I need to have a weigh in and be at target before I get issued it, but last time I took it cd2 - cd6 so would imagine it would be the same. Not heard of people having it later on in the cycle?

Ah so we've been taking it at the same time then. I conceived my eldest on one cycle of 1 tablet a day for the five days but my youngest took longer as the 1 tablet didn't seem to be working so after 3 bfn cycles the doctor told me to increase the dose to 2 tablets a day and that and the clearblue monitor helped me conceive on the fourth cycle that time. I have changed doctors since then though and new ones have told me they would want to investigate if I needed it again when I asked about clomid again. So after a bfn cycle last month without it, I dug out the pack I had left from dc2.

Best of luck at your weigh in and for hopefully a quick bfp for us both. Smile

Ah I see, that's worth knowing.

I took the one tablet and blood tests showed that I was ovulating but was still getting BFN every month. In the end I had my tubes flushed and that worked! Hope we don't need that this time Hmm

Thank you I'm praying I get to target soon as I can't wait to start! I was the same, I changed doctors and thought they would give me the clomid straight away this time but they keep dragging it out, it's so frustrating
