Aching swollen boobs (not prego) - anyone?

I did try to think of a more elegant way of expressing this problem but there it is.

For a week now - before, during and now after period which has just ended, so defo not prego. Bras are tight and the aching is dull but fairly constant.

Has anyone else had this? Been off the pill (Yasmin) since November 2013 and will find out blood test results to see if ovving on Thursday. Ultrasound came back clear.

I've always had fairly painful lower abdominal womb-y pains during period but never boob-ache, or 'mastalgia' as it's medically termed. Also period has now finished, yet the ache remains.

Oh the joys of TTC! (#2).

I always get them between ov and AF. It sucks!

thanks Metalhead. Do you think it's weird that I still have them now AF has left the building? As in, should I be worried?

Hmm, I wouldn't say you need to be worried but I would probably mention it to your GP. Mine always go back to normal after AF as it's the post-ov hormone surge that causes the discomfort, but yours might be caused by something else.

Thanks again. Speaking to doc on Thurs re blood results so will mention then. I have read lots of encouraging 'it's probably not breast cancer' stuff so trying to remain calm!

Did you preg test when AF due? Because you might be (or have been) preg. I would do a test now, if boobs are still sore/swollen.

Thanks Raw. I did one this morning, negative. Boobs still in same condition, if anything more sensitive and bras a bit too tight now.

Spoke to doc who said my blood tests show I am in a 'grey area' as to whether I ovulated i.e. it's progesterone levels not too low to rule it out, but not as high as they'd like. Have made appointment to go in again and see lady doc when she's back from hols, will be taking husband (he's 42) with to get him checked out too.

Internet is wholly unhelpful in terms of giving advice on acceptable progesterone levels and I got the distinct impression the GP was reading out from a manual rather than relying on any kind of intrinsic knowledge, bless him. Tempted to ring a private clinic and book one of those tip to toe couples checks.

Have had a bit of a weep and now it's time to go and pick up DD from nursery.

Oh and have literally just finished AF a few days ago so it was v unlikely that test would be positive. It's just the boobs that are confusing me.
