I never understood why people post 'is this a positive test?' questions until today!! I have taken 5 Internet cheapies, all take 5 or so minutes before a very faint line turns up. Have included a photo but what do you think? It's not as clear as my first pregnancy but then I'm testing much earlier (I'm around 14 days DPO)

They look like they might be flooded, were you careful to dip them for the specified time, and not to go over the max line? A positive should show a thin line rather than a smudge! A lot of people seem to have problems with the ic's, maybe try a branded hpt?

DottieD · 17/06/2014 09:08

Yes, I was careful each time but I know what you mean. Husbands gone to get a branded test, so will hopefully be more clear soon.

Could have been a duff batch then, someone else on the threads a few weeks ago had very similar! 6 or 7 completely smudgy pink blobs! Fx it's a bfp for you, let us know :)

ToAvoidConversation · 17/06/2014 10:35

In such a similar place just now. Keep seeing shadows and funny blobs on the cheapies. At the same place in my cycle too Sad (clomid cycle). Going to buy a better standard of test and try in the morning. When DH couldn't see the line this morning that I could see I cried! Blush Good luck!

chubbymummy · 17/06/2014 10:47

Looks like a line to me. When are you doing the next test? I love a good POAS thread, good luck!

Bicnod · 17/06/2014 11:16

Hmm. The one on the bottom looks like a line to me. Fingers crossed - when are you testing again?

Shnickyshnackers · 17/06/2014 11:18

it almost looks like a line. good luck to you. i think a supermarket test might be clearer (I hope!!). fingers crossed for you.

DottieD · 17/06/2014 11:56

The CB was totally negative, but did another cheapie and I still think it looks quite positive - but maybe I'm going nuts.

Argh! Should I just trust the cb and give up??

The only time I've ever seen an internet cheaply look like that is when they are flooded. They are perfectly reliable usually.

Only test I'd ever actively avoid are the +/- ones tbh.

That was no help was it?

AntinousWild · 17/06/2014 12:02

Second internet cheapy is + IMHO.

fairgroundsnack · 17/06/2014 12:05

At 14DPO I would expect a CB to show a positive. I always found the First Response tests better (mine showed a very faint positive at 8DPO and got stronger each day from then on). Those ICs don't look right to me at all.

DottieD · 17/06/2014 12:11

Ok good to know, think I'll chalk it up as a no. It's not great timing for us anyway. Just slightly convinced myself it was happening. Thank you all for your help.

Good luck ToAvoidConversation! X

Hmmm, that latest cheapie does look more +ve... how confusing! I agree that at 14dpo a clearblue should show a +ve though, are you certain of when you ovulated? When is AF due?

DottieD · 17/06/2014 12:18

I'm still BFing and not had a period yet, plus I have PCOS so that throws more confusion into the AF mix. I had EWCM 14 days ago so I'm basing everything on that but I may not have even ovulated! I would have been amazed if I was pregnant!!

OP posts:
Bicnod · 17/06/2014 12:19

I would use First Response - they are the ones that showed a positive first in all three of my pregnancies. Can you bear to wait a couple of days and then test again with FMU using a First Response? When is your AF due?

youmakemydreams · 17/06/2014 12:21

I know you said timing is not ideal but I have 3 very real and very noisy negative clear blue pregnancy tests growing the youngest turns 4 next week.
I have never ever got a positive clear blue. The internet cheepies do look positive. Go and get a boots digital or a first response... Then come back and tell us.

DottieD · 17/06/2014 12:25

I didn't find out with my first LO until I was 6 weeks and the digi got the dates wrong by 2 weeks so I do wonder if I don't respond to them properly. Oh god! I think I'll get a FR and re test in a few days (or as long as I can stand it!)

OP posts:
Metalhead · 17/06/2014 13:13

I think you must have a duff batch of ICs, I've used them and always found them to be quite clear, no weird smudgey lines like on your pictures. Retesting with a FRER in a couple of days is probably a good idea,

eurochick · 17/06/2014 16:36

The digis will always be 2 weeks different from the dates the drs give you as they count from conception and your dr counts from the date of your last period.

Those tests also look flooded to me.

DottieD · 17/06/2014 17:31

Yes, they were still 2 weeks out though eurochick, even taking that into account. X

I have had this exact same thing this week with promatris tests. What brand are those?

This is what I got.
