Hi

I am a long time lurker in this section. Myself and dh have finally agreed to begin ttc. I have wanted this for a long time.

We do have DC1 already but she is 8 and I fell pregnant by accident so I have never really tracked my cycles or anything I am pretty clueless.

Anyway, hopefully we shall begin ttc seriously from August, I am wondering if I should buy some of the ovulation sticks online to try and figure out when exactly I ovulate before August. I know DH would say that I should just leave it to nature but I feel like I want to get prepared.

My cycles vary from 22-26 days and that also concerns me. I know I am probably overthinking this but I just want this so much, so just looking for advice and tips from others going through the same thing.

Thanks in advance.

Watching with interest. I also have a dd although only 19mo but she was also conceived by accident when I was on the pill! we have now decided we quite like this parenting business and would like another but no idea how to 'try'! was going to just go with the flow and see what happens. If not pregnant by Xmas then I might begin trying to track ovulation etc.

Hi slightly I hope somebody will be along shortly with some practical advice for us.

I have been reading about tracking temperature etc. but I know DH will think I'm losing the plot if I start doing that already. He's more of a wait and see kind of guy.

P.s I know I sound a bit crazy but I just want this more than anything.

Dp is exactly the same. He will think I am a lunatic if I turn up at home with a predictor kit or start taking my temperature...he thinks.we are healthy and if it happened by accident once then it sgouldnt be a big deal this time but I know from reading these threads that its not so black and white.
You don't sound crazy to me, once my mind is made up I desperately want to just get pregnant so I understand how you feel!

I'd buy the sticks now and start logging a period app like I period or fertility friend which will tell you when your period is due - but they need a few months data to do this.

I don't think you sound crazy- you have such a small chance of conceiving each cycle (about 20%) I now find it hard to believe so many people get pregnant by accident!

21questions · 15/06/2014 21:23

Glad it's not just me. I think i may order the sticks just to get a general idea of when I ovulate, just for reassurance more than anything. Will also have a look at those apps.

It does make you wonder how so many people have surprise pregnancies when the odds are against you.

My age worries me too as I'm 32 now hope we didn't wait too long.

Hi there , I'm in a similar place too in that we have a four year old who was a surprise ! Now we are wanting another it's all abit confusing with temperature tracking etc.
My oh is the same as he's quite relaxed about it all and says it will happen when it happens and not to worry- we've been trying 2 months and I'm wondering what else we should be doing. I had my implant taken out in march so periods seem regular ish now, I am taking folic acid. . . I do think we should be doing it more though! I started to record when periods are each month from march on an app appropriately called 'M.cycles' which is useful to know.
32 is still young! ...
I just really want to have a baby before ds is 5
