Against my better judgement, I took a test today. Following a MC last year, I am scared to be pregnant again, despite really wanting to be. I was gearing myself up to be worrying about the possibility of another loss, but surprised to see 'Not Pregnant' on the little screen.

AF was due last Friday 6th, and no sign of it so far. I have had mild cramps, like the beginning of period pains, on and off, but no sign of any bleeding or spotting. My cycle is normally 25 days like clockwork. As first day of last period was 12th May, If I were pregnant, wouldnt I be in week 5 by now? Surely it's not possible that my hormone levels are too low to show up on the test?

Is it possible that I did something wrong with the test? More importantly, if I'm not pregnant, why no AF? Has anyone had a similar experience? What do you think I should do?

This happened to me last month and my period finally showed up a week late but was a lot lighter and shorter than normal - my period normally lasts 4 -5 days but this time it was 2 days and hardly any blood. I had a telephone appt with my GP and she put it down to stress but to come and see her if my next period wasn't normal. I am now five days late with a negative test and no sign of my period. So i will be ringing the doc

I googled loads and read all about HPT's not picking up when someone was pregnant but to be honest that happening is pretty much few and far between- it is more than liely due to anxiety and stress about trying to conceive. I am sorry to be a really down in the dumps Dora but don't want to get your hopes up. Good luck and keep us posted

Thanks for the honest reply! Not sure whether I should contact the GP or not bother? If it's just 'stress' I'm not sure that warrants a visit! I'm no more or stressed this month than any other. Did you get back in touch with your GP after the second funny period?

There is still hope, its never over till you get AF! I have just experienced a week of testing and getting BFNs, it wasn't until 7 days late that I had a very faint positive with fmu on a super drug test. Then at 9 days late I did a clear blue digital and it says I'm 1-2 wks preg. My cycle is normally 25 days, so I was completely thrown being stuck in limbo of no AF and no bfp. But finally I know that I must have ov'd late or had a late implanter. All the same, don't loss hope, just try your best to stay relaxed and positive. Good luck x

Btw, I didn't get any symptoms, just boobs got a bit bigger and little bit of cramping.

mollywobble · 12/06/2014 23:58

Thanks for your message Ticktick. You must be so pleased to have finally had your positive test! I hope it's all going well for you.

I am also symptom-less, other than mild cramping, like the beginning of period pains but without the usual horrible ones that follow through. Today, I have had the slightest trickle of brown blood. AF usually begins this way, so could be the start of that, just a bizarre seven days late for no good reason. Could be some kind of implantation bleeding I suppose, but I'm sure everyone tells themselves that! Either way, I suppose it's a good outcome! AF means nothing terrible wrong inside, and if not I can test again and see what happens. I know what you mean about the feeling of limbo, especially when your cycle is usually regular.

All the best for the next few weeks!

I had one positive test on Friday the 13th but negative tests on Sunday 15th, Monday 16th and Tuesday 17th.

A lady on Scarymommy forum said that she got a

"Faint positive, then several negatives over a week, thought I was "clear", then I got horrible heartburn at a friends cookout, realized I only EVER get heartburn while pregnant lol, retested, got a positive. And another positive. And a positve blood test. It was probably a week and a half later after the last negative that I retested and came up positive again."

So even though I know it is VERY unlikely I am not giving up hope until 4th July (3 weeks after my 1st positive) that I won't get another positive.
