Hi all a quick question when did you get your 1st period after having a baby?
DS is 9 weeks old and I only breastfed for the 1st week.
Last week I had some pink spotting when I wiped (sorry if TMI) for a day but nothing else could this be my body getting back to normal?
Me and DP have been having sex since DS was 4 weeks old but have been careful so I dont think im PG just wondering if this is normal after childbirth and if so when should I expect to start my periods again?

Thanks

It's different for everyone.I spoke to someone yesterday who hadn't breastfed at all and didn't get periods for several months and some-one else who exclusively breastfed for 4 months but got hers back regular asclockwork 4 weeks after giving birth.

When you saw you've been careful I assume you've been using contraception. If you're sure you're not pregnant, try not toworry about it. I bf and got mine back at 10months although Idid get the spotting about a week before it came properly.Mind you, the massive attack of PMT should've been the biggest clue

My AF has returned (DD2 9 1/2 weeks) and am BF. Thought I was going to be let off for a while-doh!

I was just about to post about this. My bb is 8 weeks and exclusively bf and i think i've got a period. Only stopped bleeding completely a couple of weeks ago. He's no. 5 and didn't get period after any of the others before a year. I feel quite down about it and can't believe it's back especially as dh and i had unprotected sex a week ago...reading these posts makes me think it must be.

Bad luck then. Both mine bf and AF didn't return until 11 mths -- weirdly tying in to the fact that neither stopped waking for night feeds until 10.5 mths

Hello

I FF my DD and AF didn't return until 16weeks.

I bf for 3 weeks with both of mine and didn't get AF until they were about 16/18 weeks at least. Make the most of the continued absence!!

I am still BF @ 22 months (just first thing and bed time)and didn't get them back until 18 months . Weirdly I thought I had one around the 7 week mark but my GP suggested it was the final bits of lochia and as it turned out she was probably right.
I think it really is one of those wait and see things, some come back nearly straight away and some take ages, initially I kept doing pregnancty tests every 6 months just in case but then didn't bother anymore.
