Hi I have used the Clear blue digital ovulation tests propertly for the first time as used 1 last month with a smiley face straight away this month I have used 5 starting on CD20 (have pcos so average cycle is 37 days) first 3 showed nothing 4th one was flashing smiley and 5th one was normal smiley. From other posts some people seemed to get lots of days flashing smiley but I only got 1 day is this normal? does this mean im now ovulating?

I started POAS on day 8 (Weds) and had 2 low fertility days but today it's gone straight to peak. Has happened last time as well. Not sure what that means.

Maybe I just have super speedy ovulation ??!! :-/

On another feed a few people said they got their peak on CD10 so maybe it can happen early sometimes. my cycles are long ones I think the average ov day is CD14 so CD23 is unusual. It would be good to know why you didnt get a flashing smiley and I only got one as I thought this was supposed to give a warning for peak ovulation!!!

Hi I also have confusion over this test. I used for the first time last cycle and it went straight to solid smiley. Can I use remaining sticks this cycle or do I have to buy new ones?

ranchgirl · 30/05/2014 17:15

I've been using same 20 pack for 3 months as I seem to ovulate rather quickly. At least I'm getting value for money...
Came up with solid smiley today but Fertility friend says should be next Weds. Look's like its DTD until then just in case!

It is not a good idea to se OPKs if you have PCOS as these kits can give misleading results with this condition. Multiple positive results are commonly seen.

As many PCOS patients have a higher than usual amount of LH in their bloodstream the kit basically reads that excess and gives you therefore a false positive result.

The surest way to know what is actually happening is to have blood tests done to see what your hormone levels are actually like. Also an internal ultrasound should be done to see how polycystic your ovaries actually are.

ladyflower the instructions say once you get a solid smiley don't do any more test as this smiley shows for 2 days however I don't understand all this take about false highs my first month I only used one stick as it had a solid smiley straight away too. I see what your saying attila about the pcos lh levels being high but I read it only effects 4 in 10 woman my condition is extremely minor I dont have the syndrome just the cysts and I do still have a regular cycle its just longer than others. am I right in thinking if I have a period every month then I have ovulated?

Its a fine line between polycystic ovaries and the actual syndrome itself. PCOS is anyway a very individualistic disorder and affects each woman with it very differently.

Its actually quite possible to have periods without ovulating in any case, this scenario would be more likely anyway if PCO or PCOS are issues.

Could I ask how long you have been ttc for?.

I have been off the pill since last april so since then but I have only been monitoring my cycle properly with OPKs since last month as we ha
d no luck before. I always thought a period came following ovulation and my cycle was just longer I want to see a doctor about it really but dont know if they will help me!!
