Mirena coil removal...

I am having the Mirena coil removed this week after having it for around 2 years. Me and my partner are planning to have our second child. I have some questions to ask (I know the nurse will probably explain all when I go, but would like some info before) :)

  1. How long does removal take? Is it painful, will I bleed afterwards?
  1. I know fertility is meant to return to normal pretty quickly but how long did it take other to get pregnant afterwards?

it is supposed to be less painful to remove

I would wait a little while after removal to let the lining of your womb build up again - I have read of miscarriage being more common if getting pregnant straight after removal as the womb is not thick enough to support the pregnancy

Mine fell out after 2 years in. I bled for about a month, very heavy, so good luck with that!

Removal was very quick, not painful. Don't remember about the bleeding.

I was still avoiding getting pregnant afterwards so can't help with that aspect!

I had mine removed in January. No pain, especially considering the torture it was going in, and I think I didn't even bleed. Cycle returned to normal after about a month. Smile

Had mine removed on the Friday- 10 seconds and no pain. Didn't start bleeding until the Sunday but when I did very heavy and went on for about 14 days.

I was actively ttc but didn't have another period for 6 weeks. Then they were regular every 30 days after that. After the 2 months it took to straighten my cycle out I got pregnant 5 months later.... So 7 months after removal of coil.
