Hi everyone,
After a 67 day cycle last month I am now on CD25. On CD22 I got a positive OPK. We had DTD on days 16, 17, 20 and 22. I also got positive OPKs on days 23 and 24 and today it's still strong but not as dark as the test line so I guess I'm on the way down. Due to DH's work we couldn't DTD on days 23 or 24 and tonight is looking iffy. Today I have masses of sticky CM.

So, does it sound like I definitely have OVed? If it looks like I did do you think we DTD at the right time? My cycles are so screwy that I just don't even know what to expect or what it all means but I'm excited that I might be in my 2WW!

Thanks for your help Smile
Koko

How long have you been ttc for?.

A "normal" cycle is a cycle length of between 21 and 35 days or with less than 4 days of variation from month to month.

If your periods are very irregular in nature it is certainly in your interests now to find out exactly why that is happening because there is always a cause. Common culprits include polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) or problems with the thyroid gland. You should have blood tests done to find out exactly what your hormone levels are like; you need a day 2 test to start with to compare your LH level against that of FSH. These two hormones kickstart the ovulation process, if they are out of sync then ovulation will be affected.

The surest way to tell if you have ovulated or not is to have blood tests done.

OPKs are not very useful to use if your periods are consistently irregular; this is because these measure LH levels. If the level of LH is higher than normal the kit can read that excess level (this may be why you are getting multiple positive results as well).

CM is a very poor indicator of ovulation so would not hold great store by it.

If your periods remain irregular do seek medical advice.

Thanks for replying Attila! Sorry, I should have said, these are my first 2 cycles after stopping bfing DS2. AF returned at 18 months when he stopped feeding. He's now 21 months so I've had 2 bleeds and this is the run up to number 3. I'm hoping things will settle down now.

As I have only had an average of one AF a year since 2009 (and none in 2012 except after DS2's birth) I don't know what my cycles will be like so I buy OPKs in bulk and just hope I'll catch something Grin
