hair dye - when to stop if TTC

I know there have been hair dye threads before, and the general consensus seems to be it is a risk worth avoiding. (Though my hairdresser says my semi-permanent colour isn't risky, and the research into damage to pregnancy was done decades ago when dyes were stronger).

The question is when it is advisable to stop. If I stop at the start of TTC I will feel so miserable and grey if it takes a few months that I won't feel sexy or want to TTC any more! Is dyeing hair most likely to do damage to the egg before conception, at the moment of conception, in the first few weeks etc etc???

Should the last "dye session" be during a period? Should I just not worry at all?

i am a hairdresser and there is no threat to you having your hair coloured whilst ttc. all i would advise is that when you do fall pregnant to avoid colour for the first trimester and the only reason for this is because of the hormones in your body can have an adverse effect on the colour and make it turn green or orange depending on the colour you are having put on. Although saying that you can still have foils there is only a risk of dodgy colour if the colour actually touches the scalp ie full head permanent.

thanks so much for that. I was TTC last month to no avail and am sitting here grey and fed up (I know you can't expect instant satisfaction!)

i have had my hair coloured in all of my pregnancies and I asked the doc before the first time and was told there was nothing to worry about at all

there isnt anything to worry about medically and chances are even if you do have your hair coloured with a full head colour all over the results will be as desired its just a small minority that there hormones make the colours react differently!
i am a bleach blonde kinda girl...and i can tell you now i will NOT be going 9 months without colouring..can you imagine the roots!!
