Does anyone know what criteria I need to fall in to get prescribed clomid

Do you have an actual diagnosis, you need that first and foremost.

Clomid is usually given to women when there is definite proof that ovulation is not happening. Clomid's main job is to make the ovaries work harder. Its quite powerful stuff so you should be monitored on it whilst on it through blood tests (it can affect hormone levels quite markedly). It is usually given for a max time of six months after which time other treatments are tried.
