Hello all,

I am posting on behalf of a friend she isn't a mnetter but I assured her that the mums on mn would be happy to share their experiences.

She started her last pill packet on the 11 July and as she was on hol decided not to have the break between packs and just follow on with the next pack (of which she only took 7days worth of pills before stopping the pill altogether). She started bleeding on the 22nd of july (while still on pk1 of pill) and stopped bleeding on the 12th of August. She had a few bleed free days and then 1 day of browny bleed on the 17th of August. This meant that she bleed for 3 weeks solid most of which was when she was still taking the pill.

The pill she has been taking is Cilest.

Has anyone else experienced anything simular to this? When would you say that she should start counting her new cycle from? Would you class the one day bleed as a withdrawal bleed from the pill?

I have not had the experience of being on Cilest so I'm wondering if this is something that other people on this pill have also experienced when not taking their 7day pill break?

Ohhh so many questions hope that you can help.
TIA
xxx

She should probably see her GP or the local family planning clinic just for a check up but here's waht I think.

The brand she was taking shouldn't really make a difference. I often used to take tow packs together if I didn'tt want to have a bleed at a particular time (say on holiday). I would then start a new pack after no more than a 7 day break and leave the part used pack for the next time I needed to manipulate the timing.

The withdrawal bleed is jsut that: a reaction to the withdrawal of the hormone. So she therefroe should not have been bleeding while she was still on the 1st pack.

The bleeding should be seen as independent of the "days" of her pack, it she should have started her new pack after 7 days off and then taken the new pack for 21 days and then having a day off.

hiya bubblez

i used to be on cilest before i stopped it as we wanted to get pregnant.
i was on it for 5 years without any problems at all and then similar to your friend i continued two of my packets but my body seemed to know when it needed to bleed...i carried on taking the 2nd packet hoping it would stop the bleeding but it didnt and i had a continuous bleed for 16 days, because of this i asked the doctor for advice and was advised to stop the pill altogether and take other procautions and wait for a "real" period and start the pill again on day one.
hope that helps xx

... but from the sound of it,bubblez' friend started to bleed before she would even have been due to if she had take the pack "normally", ie on day 11 of taking the first pack.
