When to start trying again?

I'm 33 and DH is 30. We tried for a couple of months late last year (no joy) but then had some financial drama which meant we decided to put it on the back burner for a while.

We'd like to start trying again in the new year. Actually DH would like to start trying now, but I'm doing an MA starting in November and while I don't imagine I'd be lucky enough to get upduffed straight away, I also don't fancy having a baby smack bang in the middle of my MA.

We've decided to start again in January and have started taking steps: I've had the coil out, we're sorting our finances, we're both working to get healthier.

The thing is I am surrounded by friends who keep popping out babies like there's no tomorrow, which makes next year seem really far away! And lord knows how long it will take to actually get pregnant. Then I've got my DM and other people telling me I should wait to start trying until I've completely finished my MA - but that won't be until September next year! I was hoping to be pregnant by the time I finished. I know it's a risk that I might have complications but surely it's a bigger risk to keep putting it off, at my age?

Anyone been in a similar situation? WWYD?

Bump.

Didn't want to read and run. From my pov I would say go for it now as you never know how long it will take, but obviously as you've said, there are arguments against this too. Maybe you could wait a few months and then start so that a birth would coincide with the end of your MA? Good luck with whatever choice you eventually make.

Hi Bear, thanks for the reply!

It's really hard to know what to do. My DM
always says, 'I had done everything I wanted to so before I had you' and I haven't done everything I want to do...but AIBU to think we're different people and I don't have to have ticked off my life list before TTC?

I think you're right and I want to start TTC hop

*hoping the birth coincides with the end of my MA. DH says I can't do a PhD until I've had a baby (he's joking Grin) so I'd better get a wriggle on!
