Getting pregnant after coming off the coil

Hello!

So, I'm very new to this whole TTC thing- my husband and I only decided to take the plunge in March.

I've been on The Mirena Coil for 6 years and didn't get a single period in that time.

I had it taken out on 31st March and my husband and I have been pretty active ever since!

The thing is, I haven't had a proper period since it was removed- I had a day of very light bleeding on the Thursday and Friday just before Easter but really light so I barely needed to use a liner let alone a towel and tampon so I assumed it wasn't a period and maybe my OH had scratched me during sex or something.

I took a pregnancy test on Saturday which was negative. I was then worrying that maybe I hadn't ovulated (I'm not 100% sure but I read the Mirena works by stopping ovulation and thought it may be a "hang over" from that) so I took an ovulation test which showed a faint line on Monday and then a stronger line on Tuesday, so I assume that means I am ovulating, Or can those tests be wrong?

So, if that one day of bleeding WAS a period (of sorts) then I guess the timing would fit with me ovulating around 17 days later?

I've essentially been all over my husband ever since, so do you think there is a chance this is a normal cycle?

If so, do you think I should test again in a couple of weeks? Or do you think it's unlikely that I would get pregnant without having had a proper period first?

Sorry for the ramble and being a bit naive - this is all very new and exciting but also a lot confusing!

Thanks!

hi smugs - didn't want to read and run - had my mirena out in September 13 and i think i only had my first 'proper' period in April 14. I was bleeding every month at the right time up until then but were only 2-3 days of very light bleeding and NO cramps at all. So i think it had taken a while for my uterine lining to build back up. Quite annoyed as the only reason i opted for the coil after 10yrs on the pill was so that my body had time to get rid of hormones before we started TTC. Grrrrr Angry

Not sure if this helps but wanted to offer my experience. I googled and because the mirena coil still contains hormones it can take a little while to get back to normal. Although as bishopschone says, some people do fall quickly which is great.

AF due this month on the 18th so fx for a BFP! Good luck to you! xx
