Advice please re spotting a week before AF

I'm just hoping that someone can give me some advice. I'm 40 in June. We have one DD who is 5 (conceived quickly and easily luckily). I had one MC pre DD (the month before I fell PG with her and the first month of TTC) and had another one in July 2012.

Been TTC for over 2 years now with no success (other than the 2nd MC mentioned above). DH and I have had all the fertility tests and I had a Lap and Dye in November and no issues have been found at all.

However since TTC I have noticed that I start spotting (coloured CM, Pink/brown) sometimes as early as 6DPO. I was temping when I found this out and knew that I had OVd due to the very obvious temp increase. But I found that I would have a temp dip and then the spotting would start. I went to the Fertility Specialist armed with this info and they suggested I try progesterone pessaries for 4 months from OV through to AF so I gave it a go. I was told that they should stop the spotting if it's progesterone related. Well they didn't make any difference.

All the fertility tests were done post this (including a Smear to rule out anything else) and everything came back clear.

The thing is, it doesn't happen every month. Last month I started to get coloured CM at 12DPO with AF as usual at 14DPO. This month it's back to 6DPO. Having said that, until now I haven't had it this early since having the Lap & Dye in November.

So if it's not Progesterone and the smears have come back clear and it's NOT every month, does anyone have any idea what might be causing it and whether it will still be detrimental to TTC? The temp dip at the same time is what worries me as the temp never goes back up to where it was the day before. It goes back up, but never as high.

Anyone have any ideas?

I have been having spotting for about a year now. It just suddenly started for no apparent reason and usually happens for 1-5 days before af. I've never done temperate charting so I don't know what happens with my temperatures. I've read a few threads on here about a possible link between spotting and difficulties conceiving so I was really worried and pretty much convinced myself that I wouldn't get pregnant. It wasn't a problem though and I got a BFP last month after only tcc for a short time. So I just wanted to say that spotting doesn't necessarily mean bad news. Smile

Oh BusyDays, Congratulations on your BFP!!! Grin

Thank you for your response. Having had all the tests done I was really hoping that this was just 'one of those things'. I think I may try using some of that Agnus Castus aswell as it's been recommended to me.

Thanks again and good luck for the rest of your pregnancy!! Smile
