I have recently had the minera coil removed, 3days ago to be exact!! I was wondering if anyone could shine any light on the bleeding i am experiencing as of this morning? I have been having nausea, sickness and general tired feeling for the past week although pregnancy tests are coming up negative, well 2 have been negative and 2 have shown a very faint positive line. The test at the doctors was negative so they went ahead with the removal for me. I have still had these nauseous experiences and certain smells and foods are making me sick!!! Could it be that i am taking the test too early and i could infact be pregnant or am i just hoping i am so my mind is playing tricks on me?

If the coil was overdue for removal you may be pregnant. As soon as it is removed conception is possible as you ovulate 85 percent with the mirena anyway. Bleeding is quite normal with a coil removal and should settle. Ideally pregnancy tests are accurate 21 days after last sexual intercourse.

the bleeding could be due to the removal of the coil as the hormone levels will have changed. The only problem if you got pregnant so soon after removal is that the womb lining may not be thick enough (due to the action of the hormones in the mirena) to sustain a successful pregnancy.

it may be useful to add that i had only had the mirena in place for 6weeks before removal as my partner and i decided we would like a child together, i have 2 children from a previous relationship, my youngest due to turn 1 in a few days time. Would this make any difference. Thankyou both for your replies x
