Ovulation Confusion, help please!

Hi All

Getting confused about my ovulation date this month. I've always had AF every month exactly on the date predicted, so i've never had a problem. But when my OH and i decided to start TTC, I had to have my Mirena Coil removed via surgery (doc says its fine for me to start ttc right away). AF was due 30th this month, but having the coil out a week ago has messed everything up and AF came on 25th, 5 days early.

Not sure when ovulation day will be? I have a 28 day cycle and assume i normally ovulate on cycle day 14?

Sorry if its a silly question, just wanted to clarify as we are getting married in 3 weeks and hoping for a honeymoon baby!

Hi Ladyglitterbug

Not a silly question at all and sorry to hear things have got muddled up this month. I would really recommend Using ovulation prediction kits to pin point when you ovulate this month as not everyone ovulates mid cycle and (if you are feeling up to it) start dtd reguarlay from the day after AF finishes. This is in case you ovulate much earlier than expected so there is already some erm soldiers ready and waiting, as you are working to a deadline :)

I have just brought a bundle of internet cheapies from ebay 40 ovulation sticks and 5 preg tests for 4.99 free p&P although there are much smaller packs available for a few pounds for you to trial. Hope this helps and congrats on your impending nuptials :)

Good luck Lady

I have a 28 day cycle but my monitor has picked up ovulation from day 14 - 19 so it can vary. I have never found ovulation sticks or the Clear Blue Monitor very helpful as I drink a lot and my pee is always too diluted! Lots of people find them useful though and I agree with impatiently that you don't need expensive ones.

We have been TTC for 3 years and the main advice from specialists is not to focus on ovulation but to dtd every 2-3 days - easier said than done I know but on honeymoon you should be fine Grin

I have had some hormone therapy this month and the nurse apologised that she had to recommend we dtd every night for 4 consecutive nights Shock

Forgot to to say i also asked a ovulation question recently and a very helpful poster clarified a few things. Contrary to popular belief its actually when you ovulate that determines if your period is late or early and not the other way around as you ovulate before your period. So when you ovulate this cycle will determine what dates your next A.F arrives if that makes sense?

Hi Ladies,

decided to get the internet cheapie ovulation sticks. Today is day 8 so going to start testing as i may be a little obsessed and have 3 apps on my iphone to track and they're all saying my fertile window starts tomorrow.

fingers crossed!

Good luck - 3 apps doesn't sound too bad! I've got mine down to 2 now Grin

good luck lady, forgot to add as impatient one said previously, your best bet is try to dtd every 2-3. I am relaying on opks (for now) as with my health issues me and o.h would find every 2-3 days hard to keep going and give up mid month possibly around the crucial time.
Next cycle I am going to start the SMEP (Sperm Meets Egg Plan) and give it my all

fingers crossed for you :)
